Well Im not sure yet...some people really want them to be Space Skaven...but my idea is more of rats in big cloaks with a kinda Orky crudeness in tech, but just as sleek and dark as the Dark Eldar...
Their tech kinda looking like dark evil technology from the 18th..19th century.
The Hrud themselves entirly in cloaks and armour...you might only see their tails, or parts of their snouts...maybe their feet, but that's it.
Advanced medical technology...

Yes something in the lines of those strange ornate devices which could be met in modern stylisation of mid-19th century mad scientist project like in some games in movies. The tech isn’t crude orkishness, more akin to stuff in third volume of Back to the future movie, big but beautiful, it you have a taste for such things.

So, essentially steampunk in through the back door? The kind of 'technology' represented in The Difference Engine (Steriling, Gibson) or in the RPG product GURPS Steampunk? This might in the long-run be a problem given my vehement argument about the introduction of said concepts through the Imperium and the adeptus mechanicus... Of course, based purely on imagery it really is quite interesting! Kage

I think that we're dealing more with style than method here. I've nothing against steampunk, but this is not the place.

But in terms of imagery, as stated above, it is more than interesting for the Hrud. I'm rather fond of the imagery of steampunk. And as to 'what is steampunk' question by malika, the simple answer would be to point to a film: Wild Wild West. That is, in essence, steampunk-type technologies... Kage

Steam punk: basicly the aplication of Victorian sci-fi to create a wierd world. Steam robots, babage supercomputers, that sort of thing.
"? Not the place? Weird..."
The Anargo Sector Project is not the place for it. Although the Iron Kingdoms setting is catching my eye, but for completley seperate reasons.

The Anargo Sector Project is not the place for it. I cannot agree with it. The gothic universe per se is to the some extent steam-punk, so adding a race specialised on it is an advantage. We should not simply cut-n-paste already done steam-punk universes but rather create our own, with violation of classic SP rules ever. E.g. we should work out detailed idea of warp-technology and warp-plasma…

Sounds more for something like the Squats...this steam punk thing...
Im not that pro squats...I never liked those beer drinking bikers, hopefully they (GW) will do a better job with the Demiurg.
Back to topic...the hrud might be present, but would these guys fight big wars, because from the only piece of fluff I found on them, they dont seem to fight big wars, maybe kill an Imperial intruder or something like that, or have a small raid on an Imperial base, but not big wars with Titans and super-heavies.
Maybe have them as just mercenaries in the Anargo Sector perhaps?

Sounds more for something like the Squats...this steam punk thing... For me Squats are more 40s and 50s Rebels without cause with bikes, crazy aircraft aces, brutes in leather and oil. Plus, of course, dwarf’s influence, with Celtic roots. As to presence in ASP it is very limited, and we should note explicitly that they are outcasts, not ‘base’ Hrud simply because they are now in development in the Studio and we don’t want to re-write it later.

Ok...so scouts and mercenaries as a maximum...maybe some Hrud migrations in the fluff...some IG commander stopped a migration and killed a whole bunch of Hrud one time...
Maybe the IG who are in the Castellan Subsector fighting all these Orks, and then get like "the news" or hear stories of some other commander in another Subsector who just defeated a bunch of Hrud is the subject of laughter...
