I would like to employ a factory ship, a mining, processing and manufacturing base all rolled into one. Do you have room for something like that in your classifications. Also names, would be helpful, what size and type would gothic, lunar and ironclad class ships be under

I think that would be more of a mobile Space Station or Orbital Station rather than a ship.

mmm maybe but i have the idea of it moving to different systems rather than having to build a new space station around every world. I cirtantly would'nt expecct there to be many of them though

No problem. This is solved by inventing a new sub-category. So far, the only sub-categories I've thought of, are [/li][li]Luxury [/li][li]Passenger [/li][li]Bulk
We could add another, like Constructor, and you could have a constructor barge or something.

Thats brilliant thanks, i have a lot of interest in these vessels, have you reached any decisions on the types of ship those catagories include, does Bulk include all freight and cargo ships for example

Most, if not all, ship types can be modified for either sub-category. You can have bulk freighters, passenger caravels, luxury sprint traders, bulk galleons, passenger galleons, etc. Of course, some combinations are very unlikely, such as luxury super-heavy barge.
As for what 'bulk' means... well, it means they transport anything that can be put in containers. Whether it's grain, iron ore, water, plants, animals, cotton, drugs... it doesn't matter, as long as it can be put in containers. Bulk transports are the most usual of transports, as the use of containers dramatically decreases loading time. For example, when a bulk ship enters high orbit of its destination, it can just disengage the containers attached to its hull (or alternatively open bay doors and using small tugger-craft to pull them out), leaving it to the local space port or orbital dock to take care of the cargo, and get it down to the planet.
At least, that's how I envision things.

I like the 'sprint trader' class; YT-1300 style. Anybody not geeky enough to know what this designation refers to isn't worthy of these boards, by the way
