A discussion on the Frost Wraiths (IIRC; the name frequently changed!) can be found here: More discussion is welcome, although please direct it to this thread or, if you feel it is OffT, start up a new one. Kage

I still think that Frostbringers are better... maybe the poll?

I still think that Frostbringers are better... maybe the poll? I cannot quite remember what title was settled on for the Chapter and I am somewhat embarrassed to say that I didn't check. Out of the two, however, I prefer 'Frostwraiths'... Kage

I'm happy to say that we decided on Frostwraiths (since it was my suggestion ;D), and I do believe we did a quick opinion check on Portent, though no poll. If there is much disagreement, perhaps we should do a poll. It is Sikkukkuts domain however, so he does have a major say in this...

Whoof! That's a long archive. I'm sorry to say I only got about a quarter down it, before my brain fizzled.
Anyhoo. I don't have much to add. I just wanted to ask if y'all have any imagery (chapter symbols, preferred armour design, colour schemes, etc.) decided upon for possible use by us pencil-monkeys?
EDIT: Ha! I was at portent, uploading my Battlefleet Anargo pic, and I saw that CELS' Frostwraith design was the most recent pic uploaded to the member galleries. ;D Ahum. Well... just need the chapter symbol now.

I believe that someone actually came up with a Chapter icon... Kage

There were several suggestions for Chapter symbol, but we never decided on one of them. Among the suggestions, I believe there was one with a half moon, one with the typical norse/celtic patterns and one with a spear. Oh yes, and one with a skull and blue flames, or something like that, if we chose the Frost Wraith name.
Since it's still open for discussion, what would you guys prefer to see? Personally, I'm in favour of the blue flames, and something to tie in with the 'wraith' part, like a bony fist or a skull or a ghost.

The first thing that popped into my head was perhaps a blue star, representing a frost crystal (in a vague way). Then perhaps a scythe (tying in with the FB image of wraiths).
But yeah, I have no probs with blue flames.

The one thing that I am keen on is that the icon is actually quite complex, even if it is represented on miniatures as something simpler. Thus, IIRC, the 'runic' patterns suggested before would not be inappropriate since this level of detail would not be included at anything less than artwork for the project... Kage

Fair enough. I just don't want to go too far in the norse-viking-space wolf direction. It's been done. A lot. If we can use some kind of detailed heraldry without making the Frostwraiths another bunch of space vikings, I'll be very happy.

Anyone know about Inuit iconography? Or the Daur-Mongols? They have the joys of the arctic circle/tundra imagery but without the overt Norse approach... Kage

How about a stylised Celtic cross for the symbol? Could even do a 6-pointed cross to replicate a snowflake or something like that.

I don't know what a celtic cross looks like. Do you have a picture or a link? And personally, I'm not a big fan of an ice crystal for the chapter symbol. Reminds me of the Care Bears

I must admit that I don't like the current name.
Wraith has an awkward starting sound which doesn't quite fit in the middle of a sentence. That and it isn't really evocative of what a space marine is.

I'll reply to this in the appropriate thread, to keep things on-topic and as a blatant stunt to increase my post count ;D
