Now that McHaggis is here I was wondering whether he would post the proto-image of the 'pretty picture' of the Anargo sector so that we can begin to visualise the Anargo sector and the relationship of the various subsectors.
Have you made any more progress with this map, McHaggis?

Erm, I presume you need to have the image somewhere on the web in order for you to post it here, rather than the attachment system?
I have a 102kb, 1000 by 946 pixel, work in progress map, 19 nebula still need to be made something other than blurred circles, and the black holes are purple. Oh and the main planets need to be made darker.
Just use your imagination for now though.

Excellent, excellent... as always. Is it possible to modify the image? Kage

Is it possible to thin those lines a little? They look a bit fat and ungainly next to the fine-detail space image.

The cube and the 6 systems are part of an image I got from Zoomdog I think, I haven’t got the means to make the lines thinner, we would have to ask him.

What became of the Galaxy Map?
Does McHaggis want to do that too, did we scrapping it, or was i supposed to do it [and hadn't realized]...?

Well, I'm still very interested in getting a map of the entire 40k galaxy done, if you're still up for it PuffinMagician? My preference is still for a ~60 (?) degree projection rotated around the major axis to the plane view. I'm also keen that the segmentae are indicated, as well as the extent of the Astronomican... How the important systems are represented ala Dark Millennium I'm not sure... Again that might just require contracting the wonderful map of DM down to a value consistent with a diameter of 50,000 light years for the Astronomican. Kage

I'm not sure if i can make the map look as good as McHaggis has done with the sector cube, so i wouldn't mind helping him but i don't know if i can do it all on my own. I wouldn't mind 'scaling down' the DM map to stick all the systems in their relative positions, but within the 50,000ly boundary.

Excellent... Which projection are you most comfortable with? I thought that the off-planar view would be nice and pretty, perhaps suitable for the opening sequence, as it were, but the plane view might be more useful for the purposes of 'mapping'...? Kage

I'd have to do the top-down view to do the scaling first, but i could do both.
What do you want done to the map in the opening sequence? If there's a flash animation i could make it then turn it over to whoever's in charge of that...

If I may be so bold, I suggest a top-view (or something very close) of the galaxy map, with the segmentum borders (and perhaps the names of each segmentum) for the opening sequence.

It's a shame that we don't have someone with a really good 'TV voice' to do a voice-over... that would be quite cool. Kage

Nothing 'special' needs doing to the maps for the Flash, just make sure it's REALLY big so it can be easily be scaled and not look horrible.
For the intro, here's my suggestion:
Start with screen with Imperial Eagle (or anargo crest). Fade that out into a pic of the Galaxy Segmentum lines appear on galactic map Anargo's segmentum is highlighted, then zoomed in on When in the segmentum, Anargo sector (and maybe others) get outlines Anargo secotr highlighted, and zoomed in on cut to front page of site
