Okay just starting up this thread as the start of a new and exciting attempt (prompted by CELS) to encourage discussion on the Inquisition of the Anargo Sector.
If anyone has ever created any =][= characters, for the game etc then could they possibly PM me some info as I am quite keen to have lots of input on the hidden heros of the Sector from members.
I am also looking for ideas on the structure and organisation of the Inquisition in the Sector. Ideas on Philosophies that could be present and how they relate to the worlds we have.
Ideas so far - Mainly Hereticus and Xenos based Inquisitiors tackling the threats of the Ork Empire and the persistant threat of heretics, mutants and witches across the Sector. I am not too sure there should be a large presence by the Ordo Malleus, as there is little major reason for them being around. Not that they won't be present.
The central offices of the Ordo will be located in the Imperial City on Anargo. Each subsector capital will also have an Officio Inquisitorius Planetia acting as regional offices. Other worlds may be considered for bases etc depending on the need and importance etc.
I am not keen on the idea of having a Inquisitional 'Fortress' World like Nemesis Tessera or the one in the Ultima Segmentum. Stormtroopers will be drawn from local regiments and held on Anargo etc.
We will need to consider numbers of Inquisitors, their support staff, distribution between Ordos and where they are located. The Black Ships could also be included here too.
Any ideas - lets have 'em

Here's an old illustration of the Inquisition that I did a while back. Each colour is an Ordo, but the diagram doesn't account for the fact that there are more than three ordo, and that there are Inquisitors outside the Ordos (apparently). It would just be a matter of adding more colours though, since I figure most Ordos have the same rank systems. Except special Ordos, such as the Ordo Sicarius. Let me see if I can remember what the different ranks are. White spot - Inquisitiorial representative. 8 - Lord Inquisitor (head of several different Ordos in a sector. This should really be represented as a white circle outside the white spot.) 7 - Inquisitor-Librarian / Inquisitor-Custodian / Inquisitor- Consular (Old and ancient Inquisitors in the Chambers Historical, too frail to take a more operative role) 6 - Inquisitor General (Commands the Inquisitorial forces on a planet) 5 - Inquisitor Captain (Commands an Inquisitorial Keep / Castle / Fortress / Wooden hut 4 - Lord Inquisitor (Head of sector) 3 - Lord Inquisitor (Head of subsector) 2 - Lord Inquisitor (independent) 1 - Inquisitor A - Interrogator (Acolyte and Inquisitorial apprentice) B - Explicator (Low level acolyte) C - Agent (Not necessarily a future Inquisitor, but a trained and authorised agent of the Inquisition. For examples, see the many agents employed by Ravenor) Erm... out of time. Will edit post later.

That is a neat diagram and goes a great way to explaining the structure of the Inquisition.
Now I'll do it Myyyyyyyy Waaaaaaayyyy (using some of CELS ideas!)
Lord Inquisitor Anargo - Head of Ordos Anargo
Lord Inquisitor Ordo - Head of an Ordo (ie Xenos, Malleus, Hereticus, Sicarius) One for each Ordo
Lord Inquisitor - Title granted to renowned/experienced Inquisitors
Inquisitor
Interrogator - Apprentice/Acolyte
Explicator - Low level Acolyte
Aspirant - Teenager taken in to Inquisitorial Academy with possibility that they will become an Explicator

I like the idea of Inquisitor Generals and such like. Maybe we could turn them into the more militant Inquisitors - those that actually directly command/train and organise the Stormtroopers and requisition IG and SM units etc. It could be an honoury title given when a purge/pognom is begun, with the General taking charge of the operation.
Captains could fit above but I do like the idea of them being the head honcho of a facility such as a research base or detention centre.
I shall suggest the rank of Inquisitor Secretarius - the Inquisitor in charge of each Officio Inquisitorius Planetia. Under them are the individuals of the Chamber Historical. I think that a different name could be found. I see them as being the bookworms of the Inquisition. Not just recording the events and History, but researching stuff in the libraries, deciphering texts and other 'nerdy' activities.
Not sure if a Lord is needed for each subsector but tht should be opened to discussion. I think an Inquisitor Lord would be a rare title to hold. But nevermind.
I have the opinion that every Inquisitor is inducted into an Ordo when they start their training, after all the Inquisitor who trained them will belong to an Ordo too. After becoming an Inquisitor they are free to persue the enemies of the Emperor in any way, leaving an Ordo for another etc. This reflects the stuff about Eisenhorn we know, who goes from being a Xenos nut to corrupt Chaos worshipper! Even Ravenor was a Xenos, but moves onto more psychic/daemonic investigations.
The Ordo they start in will obviously impact upon their training but situations may determine how they apply skills and gain new understanding.
Some Inquisitors may not follow an Ordo strictly, hunting the foes of Mankind in all their forms; in such a case I still think they will be part of an Ordo. The reason for this is the need of having higher power to which they have to answer to, what ever they undertake.
Outside the Ordos are the Inquisitors who are acting under 'Special Condition'. These individuals will not answer to anyone but the Emperor, taking full responsibility for all their own actions. In doing so they are not recognised by the Inquisition and gain no support from the Ordos. While on SC their activities are not recorded etc. They essentially don't exist. Thanks to Dan Abnett for this ;D ;D
Now off to make a pretty diagram like CELS'

Thoughts on the Ordo Sicarius
I am in the firm belief that the Sicarius is an entirely separate Ordo. It is not connected with the others in anyway.
The members fall into two categories - those who are tasked with infiltrating/impersonting the Officio Assassinorium. These are the secretive guys who answer to the second group.
Who can gain access to the 'hardware' provided by the Officio. They will be the people who request that an Assassin be dispatched and direct them to the target as well as providing info to assist the 'hit'.

I don't see why the Ordo Malleus would have a smaller presence in the Anargo sector than your average sector. The Ordo Malleus is probably the smallest of the three, but I don't think it would be especially small in a sector where the Alpha Legion has such a great presence. Furthermore- just because we have very few chaos fans doesn't mean that the Anargo sector has little chaos activity. I tried to remedy the unfortunate lack of chaos fans with the Daemon wars. The Daemon wars in their own right is a good reason why there should be a large number of Ordo Malleus Inquisitors in the Anargo sector. Oh, and don't forget that the Aoideans would come under the jurisdiction of the Ordo Malleus as well "Officio Inquisitorius Planetia"? Is this correct latin? Sounds a bit... made up. Even if it is correct, I hope we can use something other than 'Planetia'. Personally, I think most worlds would have at least one Inquisitorial facility. Subsector capitals are likely to have several, as I see it. Not great black castles and fortresses, but rather a network of intimidating, unmarked buildings, in smooth black rock. I agree that there's no need to have a seperate world for the Inquisition. There's probably just a few of them in the Ultima segmentum, if there are more than one. Numbers of Inquisitors? Well, we could agree on a crude estimate, but I think an accurate number would be very limiting. It might be interesting to show the exact number of Inquisitors on a few worlds at a given time though. Just to get an idea. The Black Ships on the other hand, need some attention. We need to decide what kinds of Black Ships there are (apparently, you have everything from small shuttles to the large transports carrying thouasnds of psyker children, pariahs and more, to the war ships encountered in BFG)

That is a neat diagram and goes a great way to explaining the structure of the Inquisition. Thanks. Of course, I've forgot the most important reason why I used the circle-diagram (beyond the fact that it looks cool); Inquisitors can move not only up on the rank ladder, but also to the side. In other words, an Inquisitor can change Ordo. I notice that you haven't included Inquisitor Generals and Inquisitor Captains. Why is that? I know that Inquisitor Captains are only my own invention, but Inquisitor Generals are canon fluff, since they appear in the Eisenhorn trilogy. In other words, what GW used to call a Master. I'm not 100% sure, but I think GW has changed this. Instead of having Masters, there's just the Inquisitorial representative. But out of interest, what role do you see such a 'Master' having? I believe Explicators are taken straight from the Schola Progenium. I think this is also described in the Eisenhorn novels.

On Master Inquisitiors - does the exact title really need to be the same, it could change over various regions of the Imperium etc.
Oh yeah the female Inquisitor on Cadia, in Malleus, was an Inquisitor General.
Check the 3rd post they are in there! So maybe they have more of a head of a planet thingy going on!
Agreed on the Sicarius.
Point taken on the Malleus being not that sparce in Anargo. Maybe about a quarter of the total?
Surely the Aoideans would be Xenos by the fact that they are aliens, the Malleus would also be interested with the warp/psychic stuff.

On Master Inquisitiors - does the exact title really need to be the same, it could change over various regions of the Imperium etc. Why would that title vary if very few other titles in the Imperium do? A Warmaster is a Warmaster everywhere. Same goes for Ecclessiarchy ranks, Administratum ranks, Navy ranks, Arbites ranks, and so on. Besides, the Masters of the Inquisition are already in the fluff. No need to reinvent the wheel. That is, assuming that we do follow the old fluff. The new fluff seems to suggest that there are no Masters, and not 69 secret Masters of the Ordo Malleus. I'll have to read Malleus again, but I would suggest that Inquisitor Generals have a special role. I don't see why it would be Lord Inquisitor, Ordos Anargo (sector) Lord Inquisitor, Ordos Anargo (subsector) Inquisitor General, Ordos Anargo Primus (world) I think the title Inquisitor General is a rip off from the spanish Inquisitor Generals. They were basically Inquisitors who also had armies at their command. Translated to 40k, this puts them in charge of several Inquisitorial keeps and fortresses (each run by an Inquisitor Captain), and their respective storm trooper regiments. They do not, however, have any authority or responsibility for guiding and ordering other Inquisitors. They specialise on military business. More like a third, if not less, in my opinion Are you sure? There is a Daemon Prince with tremendous power in the Anargo sector who used to be an Eldar. Does that come under the domain of the Ordo Xenos only? Surely, it would interest both Ordos, but mostly the Ordo Malleus, given his current form. This applies to the Aoideans as well. They were once aliens, but now they are only warp entities and can only materialise for brief periods.
