Today, my Frost Wraiths fought in their first battle, and I'm happy to say that it was a glorious victory! The Frost Wraith flagship battlebarge, accompanied by three strike cruisers and a squadron of three Firestorms, engaged a group of traitor ships that had been corrupted by Slaanesh. Taken by surprise by the enemy which numbered six battle-ready cruisers, the Frost Wraiths suffered heavy initial losses, with the Strike Cruiser Frosthammer taken out of action, and two of the Firestorm class frigates annihilated. The bombardement cannons of the Frost Wraith flagship and battlebarge saved the day though, destroying two chaos cruisers in only two salvos. The weapon servitors are to be commended. With two of their cruisers destroyed, and four others crippled or worse, the Chaos cowards disengaged. Three of the cruisers got away, and the last cruiser, Souldrinker, was last seen ablaze with less than 30% hull integrity as it drifted inside an asteroid field, its engines damaged beyond repair. Incidentally, it was the boarding actions of the Frost Wraith strike cruisers that crippled the Souldrinker, as the valiant Frost Wraith Space Marines attacked from the cold vacuum of space, deployed by teleporters and Thunderhawks.... Praise the Emperor! ;D In other words, I had my first BFG game today in ages, and earned some glory for the Frost Wraiths. A splendid victory, although I did unknowingly break the rules...

Skabbhatt bangs his chestplate with his left fist.
Glory to Him-on-Earth!
The first of May I should be ready to deploy the glorious Battlefleet Anargo against the foul ork and the sadistic Eldar. I await the carnage with glee.
Honour to you, Captain CELS.
Skabbhatt makes the Sign of the Aquila and sink into prayer.

Thanks, my brothers. Just keep in mind that the Battle Barges can not be given the Come To New Heading special order, as this puts a terrible strain on its engines. The Tech-Priests onboard the Frost Wraith flagship are still begging to their Omnissiah for forgiveness, mumbling something about breaking the rules....
The Emperor Protects!

I think we've got a new thought for the day:
"The Emperor protects, and so do winged panty liners. Much to the same variable efect."
Nice one. ;D

That reminds me, I'd better add some BFG notes to the "Wargaming with the Frost Bringers" section of the IA.

ya know Im thinking of starting a fleet of my own, any suggestions as to what I should get??? Never really played BFG before Are you asking what fleet to get, or how to compose a particular fleet? If you can elaborate a little, I'll answer what i can here, as I was a reasonably keen BFG player back in the still-had-time-to-game days. Although my knowledge might not include the latest ship types, and I think there are some updated ordnance rules. CELS might know more abouit those. Oh, and I thoroughly recommend the BFG Yahoogroup too. Lots of good people, including playtesters - Andy Chambers used to post to it, even. Sorry for the disjointed post, it's 2:32am here.

I fought in a game of roughly 1100 points. My fleet consisted of - 1 Battlebarge w. Fleet Commander (425 pts + 50 pts) - 3 Strike Cruisers, fielded in a single squadron (145 pts * 3) - 3 Firestorm Frigates (45 pts * 3) The enemy, IIRC, had - 2 Devastation class cruisers (launch bays and lances) One of these had a warmaster with mark of slaanesh, and the other had a chaos lord, IIRC. - 2 Murder class cruisers (long range weapon batteries) - 2 Slaughter class cruisers (Lances and weapon batteries) This fleet was pretty good, so I recommend using this, or some variation of it, for your first 1000 point army. PS: Sikkukkut, it's Frost Wraiths! Wraiths, damn you!
