Perhaps you could expand upon this somewhat? Are you after something which generates worlds to the Guide (yes there is something out there), or something which creates pretty images of a system or world? Kage

So you're asking for a 'program' which creates the wolrds for you, rather than taking up the challenge yourself? Kage

I seem to remember that there are world mapping programs out there, randomly generating a 'fractal' image of a world. Quite interesting, although they tend not to support themselves to the kind of guidelines that are present in the ASP Guide, however... Just do a bit of Googling... And, incidentally, if you do find one that is of some use don't hesitate to tell the members of the project about it. Kage

well if I were to take that route, then I got like 3 dozen planet pictures but they are pictures of Mars or Pluto... I want my planets to look like Armageddon and stuff... I want people to be able to tell that the planet is just a hell-hole (pardon the language)

Have you actually read the Guide with reference to mapping of the worlds, which everyone should be doing for the mainworld of their system? You might find it useful in expanding upon what needs to be done and, therefore, just what programs are going to be useful to you. But a randomly generated image of the world's surface is most likely not going to be that much help to you... Unless, of course, it conforms as much as possible to the Guide and can be translated onto the standard template for world mapping providing by zholud... Kage

What standard template for world mapping provided by zholud?

World Building Forum. ASP defines that at least the mainworld of a system should be 'mapped' out using the 'standard template' worldsheet and the information presented in the Guide. Kage

alright how about this... ... Kage, may you please suggest a program for me to make a pretty-little-planet-picture?? (excuse me if I may sound rude in this post, not what I was going for...)

I don't know of any programs off the top of my head which will generate an image of a world. I would have to do exactly the same thing as you: Google it, or whatever your favourite search engine is. But I'll have to point out again, Shamus. The ASP works to specific Guidelines for map production which it is unlikely that a random map/picture generator is going to produce. With that said, if you could find one then it would be rather useful for the worlds which are not specifically generated through the Guide as well as producing generally 'pretty' pictures... In synopsis there are three main points: - No, I cannot suggest a specific program which would allow you to achieve what you're aiming for. To suggest one I would have to do a 'net-search.
- The Guide requires that any mainworld that you prepare be mapped using the standard world map template sheet and the guidelines in that document.
- If you do find something that is useful, share it with the rest of the project members.
I think that covers everything! Kage

I still like them pretty pictures I could use them for my game. Another thing I need it for... but alright, if I do find *something* I will place a URL in this thread, or you can place it wherever you deem it appropriate
