As requested, Destecado, here is a shifted position for Sargassos subsector to bring it closer to the "Heart" rather than 'hugging the outside' of the sector, a feature which generated the concept for the "Heart" in the first place. (But, hey, after that there's no problem shifting it.)

Please note that an image showing the location of both the old Sargassos subsector's position and that of the new Sargassos subsector and it's stars can be found on the Temporary Sargassos Subsector Map thread. They're the same colour so you cannot help but identify the addition.

Interestingly enough - and this wasn't strictly planned - you will note that the current position of Tir'asur (single red system) is basically 'opposite' the "Heart" from Sargassos, a feature that you may wish to read into the "Heart" phenomenon... or not. At this point if I could figure out an appropriate way of representing volumes except as data points, I'd show the extent of the "Heart" phenomenon and, perhaps, the location of the main proto-dimensional fragments... Regardless, to hand-wave the extent of the "Heart" phenomenon, Tir'asur is currently some way 'inside' it and it actually extends towards the x-axis (Y axis on image) as well as towards Dorvastor...

You will note that there are far fewer 'habitable' primary UWP in this volume of space. You may, however, find the Nova Shell to be interesting...

Please also note that I'm not really willing to keep on shifting the location of Sargassos so that 'good' UWP are maximised relative to the position of the "Heart"...

So, thoughts based upon the new position, new UWP and integration with the "Heart of Anargo" concept? (Remembering that it was meant to interfere with trans-sector travel, a feature which is now looking dubious.)

Ultimately it's Destecado's and other PPLs decision. He's going to have to make a trade off for a number of worlds which are rip for near-Terra conditions for a change in position.

I'll wait to see what he has to say on the matter...

As I have said earlier, I do not mind the lack of worlds with near terra conditions. If nothing else, it adds an even greater feeling of strangness and mystery to this neck of space.

Yes we lose some of the hinderance to travel that the Sargasso Gulf originally presented, but its new placement may help to explain the continued existance of the Age of Strife era Culture that existed up to the time of the Great Crusade.

The way I envision them as settlng in a place where they would not be bothered. With the lack of terra style worlds, they probably would not have had much competition. The trade off for few terrestrial worlds appears to be vast amounts of resources.

The new listing is fine Kage.

Fair enough. With the new position 'opposite' what increasingly looks like Tir'asur we can begin to define the scope of the Heart phenomenon and also look to the Sargasso Gulf itself (which I currently see as being increasing X, decreasing Y and similar Z (using the weird axis system of the program)...

Remember that you have greater freedom for changing the star-classes in this subsector than others enjoy in the various other subsectors. If you wish to utilise this 'power' then fine. If not, then also fine.

And do you have any quirky ideas about the nova shell? (I'm thinking of the Rossette at the moment, for some reason...)

Some of the Star Classes wil in deed need to be altered, but we can discuss that on a case by case basis as worlds or people to work on worlds in the subsector put forward requests.

I need to give some thought to the Rossette being in the area of the supernova shell or even in the Sargassos Subsector. Has there been any thought to wether the rossette originated in the Anargo Sector or if it is just passing through? If it is just passing through then I see no problem with having it pass through that area. It may be that the gravimetric change of its passage through the expanding gas cloud is what first brought it to the attention of the Imperium.

Of course it is important to consider is what effects the passage through such an area of space will have on the rossette. the debris from a supernova explosion will expand outwards at sppeds approaching 10,000 km per second. The collision of this debris with interstellar gas will heat the gas to very high temperatures some even approaching as high as 10 million-degrees.

It all depends on how old the nova shell is and how close to the leading edge of the blast wave the trajectory of the rossette will be. Maybe it was a change in course of the rossette to avoid crossing the leading edge of the blast wave that brought it to the attention of the Imperium.

Of course at this point they are only able to track what is occuring and are nable to approach it, due the the high temperatures in the nova shell. They may be waiting for it to exit the shell in order to attempt a rendevous with it on the other side....in a couple of generations. This would allow for stories taking place within the rossette to remain seprate and distinct from the rest of the Sector (if we wish) while setting up a future confrontation.
