I agree with that, but I think a research base for Tau tech should be in the Segmentum Ultima, (eastern fringe) not here..we are located elsewhere in the galaxy.

Okay... Having quickly skimmed through the above posts I will say this: I am extremely unkeen on having what appears to be a 'generic alien research' base. Not only does this destroy the typical paranoid and cellular nature of the Imperium, within limits, but... heck, I just plain don't like it. Having a restricted research base operating upon a single programme... now that does have more movement. I'm actually intrigued by the 'hive mind' idea, although that woudl also require not too insignificant input by the adeptus astra telepathica. But that's by way of an aside more than anything else. I'd be guided on overall opinion here, but would it not be more interesting to somehow relate this to the whole 'secret centre of the sector' concept and, in some way, also define that... This might link a number of races through unprovenanced 'mysterious artefacts' but without a specific and rather obvious military aspect. Kage

The hive mind thingy is not going to be a successfull one. When the first hive fleet comed to the sector the tyranids will go crayz. As such the all Xenological experiments this one will not be a success. And yes i know tellig this here has ruined all of the future surprise but you pushed me . For the Imperium, they are not Middle age Cristians. They are like Ronesans(sp?) peopþe with high tech. And do not forget that the Orks and Tyranids come from the same source due to fluff XENOLOGICAL EXPERÝMENTS

The Imperium isnt Rennaisance...they are mid eaval christians..well their way of thinkin is, no change, everything stays the same, no real new investigation..only very limited, and only the most radical =][= might be empirists (people who want to totally examinate everything) but they might be declared Hereticus by the rest of the =][=

Medieval christians was open to change, as an example the technology improved a great deal. A nice idea, but I have to agree with Kage. A single project is more intriguing, and enable you to delve deep into that area. And it suits the homeostatic nature of the Imperium... Kage did teach me a new shiny word... ;D
