I like it, Zark. I like it a lot! It's a bit bright though. How about using black instead of that background colour, and using the current background colour for the "windows" / tables? Or... I don't know... the current set of colours kind of grows on you, actually I'll let the others state their opinion! I agree about the logo... and I'm still undecided about the TotD. Maybe a small box in the upper right corner? So the top of the screen would be Logo, Website name, TotD...

I guess more classic 'green old monitor' colour scheme fits more for newbie who is aware of 40k and comes to our site expecting us not to be very heretic...

Yes, and it also fits if everyone is expecting to see a Booooring site. It's always green... [/bitch]

Nice design, simple and effective. A question about the textmass, will it be in the same colour as the rest of the text, 'cause I can see me becoming real pissed at teal...
In the same nature, is that the font being used?

That's a good point. Maybe you could put some text on this sample site so we can see how we want to solve that problem, Zark?
I don't feel that it'd be any different with green or orange though. I generally dislike reading much coloured text, now that I think about it.

Colours, fonts, layout can all be changed easily.
I was reckoning on either white or cyan for the text with this colour scheme though.
I'll go rip some text out of one of the background threads now...

OK, I stole some of the Proteus text for the example. I played around with the layout; the centre 'box' didn't look right.
I also added funky filters to headers.
Note that there is probably a lot more text on there than would normally appear on a page at once, I haven't edited the content, just the style.
I can play with colours later.

Looks better, I must say. I did want to see the text in a "box" though, as it added to the whole 'database' feel of the page. Pretty stylish though... Do you need me to mail you some artwork for the introduction page btw? Edit- Oh, and if we did put the text in a box, we could fit like the entire Proteus text on one page, right? Because then you could put a scroll-bar on the box...! Saves us the trouble of having "Proteus, page 1/38"

hm... I'll look into scrollbars. I think it requires use of inline frames, don't know how well that'd work with the php work Zoomdog was planning.
I'll have a fiddle round though, see what I come up with.
Feel free to email me artwork and stuff for the intro page, just be aware that I may not get it (cause Hotmail occasionally locks the account for a full mailbox, generally cause of me not flushing out spam on a regular basis)

Woo! Scrolling now works.
Just one caveat on it: in order to get it working, I have to use a specific pixel height for the text block, it doesn't seem to work with percentages. This means that the block is fixed height, and won't re-scale to fit the page.
I'll keep tinkering, I may find a way round it.

White text do works. Looking good, Zark.
Now the left side of the layout, where the nav bar and the logo is, seem awful emty. Prolong the nav bar add things like a pic of the week-thingy? Other link could be "Wargaming ín Anargo" and "Roleplaying in Anargo".
Or we could have a nice picture?
Or we could move the nav bar over the route tracer?
But good work, Zark!

I guess that the size of font has to be increased and family is changed to Arial because it is better in reading. Some main points like menu are better is Cursor style.

The space beneath the menu is perfect for either a variation of the Anargo logo, like a half eagle... and yeah, the logo will appear on top of the menu, but I was thinking only in form of a simple iconic rendition, and in teal. Oh, and add Fiction to the menu. And maybe put all the links on the menu in bold. I like the navbar where it is. If anything, we should move the 'related articles', but that looks pretty good where it is too. PS: If you weren't doing such a good job on the site, Zark, I would yell at you for the double posting

Just got an idea, how would it look in the same colour scheme as the forums? Just a thought.

Orange is another possibility, which I suggested along with teal. I'm not too happy about grey though....
