Ok guys I am quite ready noww to devote some time to fleshing out the capital world. Since trying to upload a much laboured over world map kage happened to mention that some details of the planet had changed! Is there a standard representation of Anargo IV yet and what information if any has been changed from the UWP?? Cheers for the help

I'm hoping to get the final representation up and running shortly. The problem here is that I'm using the sector capital world as a means of illustrating the process of world creation. Furthermore, it's also going beyond the 'standard representations' thus far given in the ASP since, after all, it includes the information on the rest of the system. (It's only a minor thing, but it takes some time integrating the various ideas of what is happening on the other worlds.) I'll get this to you asap or, indeed, might just post some quick stats that don't go along the same lines of standard representation. Kage

Cheers Kage, going to really enjoy reading it since it is the central part of the sector we are creating!

With reference to mapping the world, the following statistics were generated by the 'guide': For simplicity sake I'm not going to try and post the full temperature work sheet here. However, information on the 'highest' and 'lowest' possible temperatures of the world are useful. Respectively for hex row 1 through 11: Highest Possible Temperature57, 50, 46, 43, 39, 36, 29, 22, 15, 8, and 1. Lowest Possible Temperature32, 25, 12, -,1, -14, -27, -34, -41, -48, -55 and -62. One of the reasons that I've held of posting information on Anargo is trying to get to grips with what looks like a significant 'melt' series which would restrict habitation to the highlands, as well as a significant affect upon agriculture... In terms of the settlement, there are three "hive cities" on Anargo, though I seem them as being relatively 'spread out' and more in mind of the arcology than the hive per se. The populations vary from 5-7.5 billion. There are 11 further cities with populations around the 500,000,000 mark. This includes the "Imperial Enclave". While the first three cities should be marked on (and I would at this point prefer a southerly location), only the Imperial Enclave need be marked on at this level of resolution... While there are other cities, their importance is that much less... Kage

Cheers kage for that info... ...looks like a fairly Terran temperature range. Could you post the tectonic plate info please unless it is the same as already generated, as this is the first point I wish to start with when mapping the world. Any idea how you want the world to appear, with regards to continents?? Lots of drift or large proto-continental mass? Will the sprawls be close together in the southern hemisphere etc. I am keen to see a fairly tropical Imperial Enclave, similar to a Carribbean climate. Might be a bit of a change from the dull, dank and dark Imperial City that is described. A warm and verdant (to some degree) city with a different style of architecture than elsewhere on the planet. Just an idea but lets keep 'em coming!

I'd think that the Imperial Enclave on Anarg would have a very typical Terran architecture that is typical for 40k, with the cathedral-like buildings, the gothic style windows, doors and gargoyles, etc.

Cheers kage for that info... My pleasure. Shame that I forgot some of it! ...looks like a fairly Terran temperature range. It does...? Actually that does remind me that I don't actually know the temperature variations over the planet Earth. Hmmn. A bit of Googling for a second... Nope cannot find anything quickly. Just the temperatures strike me as a bit on the high side. Hmmn, but then again maybe not. I think that what really does get me is the lack of 'stable' temperature ranges over the year. The world is subject to greater temperature variation with significant effects upon settlement, etc. Hence the thread elsewhere. Could you post the tectonic plate info please unless it is the same as already generated, as this is the first point I wish to start with when mapping the world. The recent information generates seven tectonic plates. If you would prefer the oriignal version then, since it doesn't really have an effect upon subsequent generation, I can always change things back to makes things easier for you. Any idea how you want the world to appear, with regards to continents?? Lots of drift or large proto-continental mass? Will the sprawls be close together in the southern hemisphere etc. The major cities are something that I see as being present in the south, putting them outside of major settlement areas. (Of course, this depends on the nature of agriculture on the world given the huge climatic change.) Ahh... I need to go away and have another think... I am keen to see a fairly tropical Imperial Enclave, similar to a Carribbean climate. Might be a bit of a change from the dull, dank and dark Imperial City that is described. Locating the Imperial Enclave in the northern hemisphere, specifically in the upper hex rows, seems to just make sense. However, with a city of five hundred million it's not really going to be airy and open... A warm and verdant (to some degree) city with a different style of architecture than elsewhere on the planet. As CELS points out, the chances are that as an Imperial Enclave it will contain significant quantities of 'High Gothic period' architecture... And on a personal note please could everyone stop stealing my trademark " " at the end of the posts! Kage

Ok going to agree with the Terran style architecture you guys suggested. temp seems to be fairly Terran like, maybe slightly warmer Highest possible on Anargo = 57, Terra Highest recorded = 57.7 in Libya Lowest possible on Anargo = -89.2 at Vostock II However not sure if lowest temp is with windchill, not something the Guide includes. Oh and CELS we better stop with the smilieys at the end of our posts it seems to be annoying Kage

Don't look at me, I only use smileys at the end of my posts once in a blue moon, and not to copy Kage. Pay him no heed. He's not been the same since all the talk of Fluff gods on Portent

Okay have copied info from Kage onto disk and will commence work on Anargo Primus World Map on Saturday or Sunday when I am back at University. Now is a good time to shout out if you want to make your mark on the planet.
So any continents shaped like Kage's avatar or the Cels Expanse etc
Perhaps some nice crinkly fjords are required!
(imagine me grinning manically)

Oh, be quiet Slatty Bardfast (or however you spell it!) Out of interest, when I engaged my brain (after subtle prompting ) the environment seems warmer than Terra but still with a much larger 'freeze zone'... Hex Row | Summer Day Temp. | Summer Night Temp. | Winter Day Temp. | Winter Night Temp. | 1 | 57 | 37 | 52 | 32 | 2 | 50 | 30 | 45 | 25 | 3 | 46 | 26 | 32 | 12 | 4 | 43 | 23 | 19 | -1 | 5 | 39 | 19 | 6 | -14 | 6 | 36 | 16 | -7 | -27 | 7 | 29 | 9 | -14 | -34 | 8 | 22 | 2 | -24 | -41 | 9 | 15 | -5 | -28 | -48 | 10 | 8 | -12 | -35 | -55 | 11 | 1 | -19 | -42 | -62 |

I think... Kage

Make my mark on the planet, huh? Well, I don't really have any ideas for the map, but maybe I'll be able to contribute later. Just keep to the idea that teal colours on the map represent frozen seas, whilst white represents land covered in ice and snow

And it might even be nice if coastlines were not the sides of hexagons... Kage
