I'm not fussed, I was just messing around with a concept. It was really just the names that inspired it.

D, not all chaos ships are chaos-built or pre-heresy. Quite a few have turned or been captured. A possessed light cruiser or a chaos light cruiser are quite valid possiblities. Yeah, I realise that. Anyone want to suggest a ship class then? I'm not as familiar with the Imperial ones, and haven't got my BfG rulebook handy to go check out classes.

The Carnage class cruiser design is referred to in the books as an "ill-fated" design, plagued by technical problems and treacherous crews, so that might be a good one.
If people are looking for extra inspiration, an early issue of INFERNO had a pictorial feature on a ghost ship called the Celestian, which was likewise accompanied by strange dreams and visions and considered a portent of bad luck. It was done up as a mock Inquisitorial dossier. I'll see if I can find the issue number.

The Carnage could be workable then. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Well if you wanted to be interesting you could have it so that its two thrusters pointed in slightly different directions giving it the appearence of a Twin Tailed comet at distance ;D (Warhammer anyone?)

Unless you're claiming that the Warhammer world is hidden somewhere within the Cursed Sector?

Well we simply don't make a Claim that the Ship stays in the Anargo sector

I personally oppose the twin tailed comet idea, because A) I hate theories on connections between the Warhammer universe and the 40k Universe (such as Archaon and Sigmar being the two missing Primarchs) B) There are no known Imperial ships which have thrusters pointing in different directions, and I can't think of a reason why an Imperial military would be built that way. It's an amazing waste of drive, really. Ork space hulks, yes. Imperial Navy ships... no.. IMHO.
So Darryl, what effect does the daemon(s) have on the Revenant ship? In terms of combat effectiveness, that is. I'm just thinking that unless it makes it considerably more dangerous than other light cruisers, the Revenant might not be such a horribly dangerous ghost ship. An Imperial cruiser or a large squadron of frigates would annihilate it.

Simple it emits an aura of pure madness
When other ships close many crew are stricken with images of violence, bloodshed, destruction and other general nastiness (This also links in with the portents of doom that happen around the ship passing)
The Madness and ensuing bloodshed amongst the Gang ratings and the Ships internal security teams would disable most ships allowing The Revenant to either attack or escape or disappear

That's sounds fair, I suppose, except that space battles occur over fantastic areas of space. This ship would emit a powerful aura if everyone within several hundred thousand kilometers are affected. What would happen if this thing came into orbit of an Imperial world, for example? Perhaps it would be better if the ship could only affect one mind at a time. It would still be devastating, if it suddenly decided to mind-control the commander of an Imperial battlegroup, or to destroy the minds of its officers and navigators, one by one. It could still screw with the ratings, mind you, but by creating large illusions of daemons and monsters instead of entering the minds of each of the thousand ratings. But perhaps such an aura would be suitable on very short distances, making it nigh impossible to board the ship... unless it wants you to board...

Well yeah it would be powerful since I'm saying that the Aura of Madness would be whats causing the Portents of Doom and Destruction (Aswell as sending some people nuts and Causing the fore casted doom and destruction)
And I'm thinking that the visions of madness would be similar to those shown in the movie "Event Horizon" a movie which is also the source of Lucius the Eternal's background
If the ship came into orbit of a planet it would Warp and Twist the minds of all of the inhabitants making the world go insane (Great breeding ground for Chaos)
But since the Commander guys spirit is controlling the vessal he would most likely only seek to prove his command by engaging Imperial Warships. He has no grudge against ordinary citizens only against the Navy

My point is that it would be TOO powerful. If an independent power of chaos can give a ship this amount of power at a whim, then the Big Four should be able to do the same. And they would want to. Imagine the potential of corrupting an entire planet only by sending a ship into orbit for a few days! Saves Papa Nurgle some time....
So.... again, I think it's too powerful.

Yes but the Aura of Madness would be generated by the Way the Crew died and how the Captian came to control the Ship (Think By product)
The lament of those tortured crew who souls are still forced to serve upon the ship and the insanity of the Captian are what is generating the field.
Khorne would never bother with using Madness to corrupt a planet. Nurgle wants decay and disease Madness is simply not enough. Madness doesn't change much once one is mad so it wouldn't be interesting for Tzeentch. And wheres the pleasure in being mad beyond recognition? Slannesh wants madness but mad with the search for pleasure not just plain mad.
So it is easilly passed off as a One off (Besides as you have said the Anargo sector is very large and we only have 1 Ghost ship and Daemon ships aren't exactly a common occurence anyway)

I'm just thinking that unless it makes it considerably more dangerous than other light cruisers, the Revenant might not be such a horribly dangerous ghost ship. An Imperial cruiser or a large squadron of frigates would annihilate it. In BfG terms, deamonships have the following special rules: Aren't affected by celestial phenomena or ordnance markers as they become solid. Can return to the warp at the end of any turn, and reappear later, with a chance of some of their damage repaired. The longer they stay in the warp, the more damage repaired. Translate that into a more realistic setting, and you have the ship phasing in and out around an attacker, vanishing at will and reappearing with its damage healed ... a much tougher nut for the Imperials to crack.
