Its still a morality thing but the Imperial sacrifices are less selfish I'd have to disagree with you there. Take it from the point of view of the sacrafice, and dead is still dead. The Black Ships aren't picking up psychers for their own good. What fraction of a percentage actually end up being something other than psychic firewood? The Imperium has killed more of its own than all the outside threats put together.

Heheh...
But I think more Imperials would die for their brethren than would Chaos followers. Chaos followers serve the Dark Gods either because they want more power for themselves, or because they want the help of Chaos to accomplish some goal (like killing someone who bullied them in school)
I don't quite see Khârne the Betrayer dying for the cause, but I do see loyal Space Marines doing that.
Ultimately though, Man only wants Man to win, and chaos only wants chaos to win. Man would not die for Eldar, nor would Eldar die for Man, so every side is equally selfish if you look at it that way.

Well if you are making that point about the sacrifice how about war and soldiers?
They are called upon if need be make the ultimate sacrifice
And the Black Ships are picking up for Psykers for everyone else's good.
Without the constant culling of Psykers there would be way more threats to planetary safety.
The Imperial Authorities just figure that whilst these psykers are dangerous they may aswell be put to good use before they die.
The Golden Throne is just a Glorified Executioners chamber

This is one of those points where I haven't been reading this board for a while so if anyone fancies dropping me a PM with a point-by-point update of the thread, that would be good... Or just posting it here with a PM to remind that it is here. The Chaos Board is one of those things like the Orks... I tend to sweep it under the rug, figuratively speaking. And then it happens that the most interesting of work disappears with the 'fluff'... Some points that I wished to address ot the last post, however, are as follows: And the Black Ships are picking up for Psykers for everyone else's good. If I were in front of you I'd be pulling a face and moving my hand from side to side, with the palm down going "Weeeelll..." Yes, it's true that wild and secondary psykers would be dangerous to the populations, that's not so with primary psykers. The Imperium quite simply wishes to control the 'psyker question'. But then again the Imperium 'controls' the psyker population on the local level as a matter of Imperial law... The Blackships on the other hand are something else entirely. They are along with the processes of the adeptus astral telepathica, astronomican and the psyker sacrifice one of the largest eugenics programs ever attempted. I've always found that the truth of this is self-evident, so I'll leave it at that. The Imperial Authorities just figure that whilst these psykers are dangerous they may aswell be put to good use before they die. While some of them think that's what they're doing, it is in fact serving the ultimate goal of the Emperor: creating a safe, psychic race of humanity. The Golden Throne is just a Glorified Executioners chamber <hand waving, face pullilng> Weeeeell.... Kage
