There was something floating about on the subject of a Tzneetch renegade controlling a massive crime syndicate somewhere...

hmm...first it was some eldar controlling it, well the one Im working on will be an eldar controlling it, would be cool to have another group controlled by some tzeentch worshipping Alpha Legion dude.
I am working on the second crime syndicate, it will be controlled by the alpha legion, the organisation is basicly a cover up for their recuitment base they have in this sector

The idea of a Tzeentch renegade is actually pretty old, ASP-wise. Don't know who came up with it though...
I don't know what I feel about a stationary Alpha Legion base in the sector. If the sector was conquered by what later turned out to be a Traitor legion, it would be cool to see that Legion return to spread their propaganda. "We liberated this sector, you owe us your allegiance", etc.
I don't see any large warbands cruising around though. Mostly just small handfulls of Traitor marines, starting cults, sabotaging, etc. Perhaps the occassional attack though. A small warband starting a cult, sacrificing the cult in a massive, but short-lived attack, and then disappearing when they've accomplished their goal. Or alternatively, failing horribly and dying.... ;D

Well they could just get the recuits for cultists there, the strongest will be send away through some warp portal, or smuggled in some transport to become marines.
It wont really be a stationairy base, just a luitenant and like 5 marines or something, not a warband of marines, just them, picking out the recuits.
We could drop the tzeentch thing, my alpha legion are very chaos undivided, no deamons or mutation what so ever

The Alpha Legion were mentioned as being involved in plots to create the 'fall' of Castellan. But beyond that nothing... The original advocates of Chaotic influence - Lavfluris and Brusilov from Portent - have not made the transition to the new board or, indeed, made much contribution past initial comments. Thus the nature of Chaos in the Anargo Sector is up for grabs. With that said, however, the cults that are present throughout the Imperium are obviously going to be present in the Anargo sector. I would suggest that it is also interesting to ensure that some of the higher ranking members of the nobilitas provincialis and perhaps even nobilitas imperialis are involved in extended Chaos Covens... In other words they're going to have their fingers in a lot of pies and we should illustrate this... But I'm afraid I'm going to draw the line at huge Chaos intervention in every aspect of the Anargo sector in terms of them showing up all the time and being used as an explanation for everything. Of course, there shoulndnt be something too big and too noticable, well maybe during the EOT campaign stuff happened in the sector, some cults rising up and all, but now they just lay low. The alpha legion smuggle the strongest cultist away to become marines, but that is such a small number that it isnt noticed by hte arbites (they will probably assumed he has been killed in gang war or something).
The cult will probably work like the criminal organisation...well the organisation is the cult actually (another syndicate on another planet in another subsector) they will be the big crime group of that area, whilst Aracnus is big in another subsector (probably the capital or hive world sector)

Actually, that was mo , it was an idea i had ages ago on portent, if the damn site was up i'd link to the post, will have to do so later, i was always intreagued by the idea of a single CSM attempting to gain power for themselves through a 'legit' front.

Do you have the time to work on that idea in the project then, Lord Fenric?

Do the Thousand Sons even have renegades? Do they maintain full sentience after the Rubric?

Thousand Son sorcerors are free to turn renegade. Any Thousand Son Marine that wasn't a sorceror when Ahriman mucked about with that rubric, was turned to dust. These dead ghosts of Thousand Sons do not have a will of their own, I think, and so can not turn renegade. Even if they could, they wouldn't fit Lord Fenric's idea...

Do the Thousand Sons even have renegades? Do they maintain full sentience after the Rubric? Whilst a normal marine wouldn't turn renegade their is nothing to stop a sorceror wandering of on his own. th reason i thougt the concept was interesting because origionally Kage wanted to keep the CSM presance small, and i didn't like the idea of little warbands, everything ther'es just a scaled down version of the bigger ones and thats all a bit meh.... Much better to have a marine heading an orginisation which has been around so long the inquisition ignore it as its almost a public institution, of course behind the scenes it's very dirty, essentially like the maffia. In all honesty the chances of ever meeting the sorcerer would be exceptionally remote, i imagine him guarded by lots of big men in black suits, if using a modern parallel. He hides by acting the hermit like billionaire. Of course i just like the image of him standing on a balcony of a very high tower gloating.

I don't think the Inquisition as a whole should know about this. Maybe a few very, very, very radical Inquisitors know about the traitor marine, but I'm still having difficulties understanding how they could accept his presence. I think it's far more interesting if the Inquisition doesn't know everything, really. Especially when it comes to dark secrets right in the heart of the Imperium.
