Appendix – Proteus
The Protean High Council In year 999,M41, Magos Venerata Tristan Perun is the Archmagos Ultima of Proteus and the Anargo sector, and thus the leader of the High Council. One of the most venerable members of the Priesthood of Proteus, Tristan is an ancient member of the Unionist paradigm, tempered by a more conservative political standing, earning him the support of most other venerable Magi. Tristan Perun is almost seven-hundred years old, his life superbly augmented by special surgery, chemical implants, and bionic replacements. He is almost wholly machine, having replaced all four limbs with bionics, and all his vital organs with either biomechanical or fully mechanical constructs. Easily recognised by his tall, hovering form and trademark facemask, a custom version of the masks typically worn by the most zealous Unionists on Proteus, Tristan Perun’s figure oozes authority and confidence.
The council’s representative of the Divisio Logis is Archlogis Bharat. As Archlogis, Bharat is responsible for predicting future trends and mace forecasts about expenditure and planetary needs. By his brother-Priests, Bharat is regarded as a prophetic figure guided by the Machine God, and words of his mysterious abilities have even reached the ears of the Inquisition. Archlogis Bharat is very young for one of his post, at only sixty years old, but is nonetheless revered even among the more venerable members of the Priesthood. Always by his side is the Staff of Icarus, the symbol of office for the Archlogis. Bharat has been known to follow the Questor philosophy, and has long supported the Isolationist faction on Proteus, and is thus regarded as something of a puritan amongst his brethren. Recently, however, accusations have been raised that Bharat is in league with the Mikaelists, and that he has been leaking highly restricted information to the followers of this paradigm.
Grand Artisan Goibnu is the oldest member of the High Council of Proteus, elected to be a council member before even Tristan Perun. Aging five-hundred years old, Goibnu is arguably the most conservative member of the council, and a devout follower of the Primist philosophy. Goibnu is Fabricator Major of the continent Eos, the largest continent on Proteus, and is thus in direct control of the majority of Proteus’ workforce. As a young Tech Priest, Goibnu excelled as a weapons artisan, earning him the appraisal of the forgeworld’s greatest Magi.
The High Council’s only female member, Archmagos Tara Minerva is feared by many outside the Adeptus Mechanicus, and even by a few of her own colleagues. Known for her extreme cunning and brutal methods, Tara Minerva reached her high rank at a relatively young age, and it is broadly understood that she climbed over quite a few dead bodies to get where she is. Archmagos Minerva is the eyes and ears of the High Council, used for diplomatic missions on Imperial worlds, neighbouring forge worlds, and in military missions of varying secrecy. She is vital to the High Council in determining matters that depend on external factors such as conflicts with other Imperial organisations.
Tara Minerva is an old woman, but thanks to rejuvenation drugs, she doesn’t look a day over thirty. Many might find her attractive if it wasn’t for her mechanical augmentations made after she suffered horrible injuries in an expedition to the Sargassos subsector. Carried by four spidery mechanical legs, Tara Minerva stands well over two meters tall, making a fearsome sight indeed.
Archmagos Minerva is captain of the OmniCruiser Asherah, the most powerful ship of Proteus, capable of transporting and deploying several infantry regiments of Tech Guard, supported by armoured regiments and Titan squadrons. Registered as an exploration vessel, the Asherah has not been boarded by anyone outside the Adeptus Mechanicus for millennia, with the exception of the Inquisition.
The last and most infamous of the High Council members, is High Genetor Nestor, a principal of the Divisio Biologis on Proteus. A radical member, Nestor is known to experiment with xeno life forms such as the Orkoid species and to be extremely cynical about human experiments. Though many have questioned his ethics and love for humanity, his skills and accomplishments cannot be denied.
The Burning Lances - Legio Lancea[/b] The Burning Lances is among the oldest of the Titan Legions of the Adeptus Mechanicus. They fought for the Emperor in the Great Crusade, they fought for the Emperor when Horus besieged the Palace on Terra, they fought for the Emperor in the Great scouring, and have fought for him ever since. For more than ten millennia, the Titans of Legio Lancea brought destruction to the enemies of the Imperium, and have become one of the most esteemed Legions of the Legio Titanica.
Since their founding in M28, the Burning Lances have distinguished themselves as a zealous and unrelenting Legion, if a bit headstrong. Their proud history and long list of major victories have done nothing to humble the Burning Lances, and as a result some Imperial commanders have cursed the Burning Lances for their stubbornness. The members of the Adeptus Mechanicus however, who have learned to put their own judgement over that of Imperial commanders, if anything, praise the Burning Lances for this. The Burning Lances originate from the forge world Proteus, and all but a few of the Legion’s Titans were built on this world. The headquarters of the Burning Lances, the Tower Lancea, is located on Proteus’ south pole, and has become more of a fortress than a forge tower over the millennia. When all the parts of a titan have been constructed on the different continents of Proteus, they are brought to the Tower Lancea, where the Titan is assembled, and its machine-spirit is born. After its creation, each Titan stands guard on Proteus until the Grand Master deems it worthy of joining a Demi-Legion. Later, when Titans of the Burning Lance Legion fall, they are returned to their homeworld, where they are laid to rest in the cavernous catacombs of a forge tower. No one outside the Legion knows the purpose of this custom, nor how many fallen Titans are resting in the catacombs already, but there are those who suspect that the Burning Lances believe that these fallen Titans will rise again, defying fatal wounds, and join mankind in what they call the Great Cataclysm.
With a total of seventy-seven Titans, the Legio Lancea is fairly large for a Titan Legion (and it would have been amongst the largest Legions, had it not recently transferred a Demi-Legion of twenty Titans to the newly founded Legion of the sector’s younger forgeworld). Compared to other Titan Legions, the Burning Lances have an unusually high amount of Emperor class titans, the oldest classes of Titans, permanently assigned by the . The presence of six Emperor class titans in a single Legion is extraordinary, and many great Princeps in the legion have sacrificed their titans and themselves to allow these Gods amongst Gods to live on.

Heroes of Legio Lancea
Grand Master Nestor Quirinius of Imperius Invictus, Emperor class, Imperator variant[/color] Nestor Quirinius was recently promoted to the rank of Grand Master of Legio Lancea, following the death of the former Grand Master Sigmund Hortan. The choice of Quirinius as Grand Master was an obvious one, as he has long been a great hero of the Legion, renowned for his superb tactics and his legendary victories against the forces of chaos in his early military career.
Though Legion tactics have always put Emperor class titans at a distance from the enemy, where they can use their devastating long range firepower optimally without risking close combat, Nestor Quirinius has a reputation for wanting to lead from the front. This has be a constant source of worry for the more venerable Princeps of the Legion, who have continually reminded Quirinius of the Emperor class Titan’s weakness in close combat, especially with enemy titans. Luckily, as Grand Master, Quirinius has been given the most elite crew of the entire legion, many of whom Quirinius arguably owe his life, and doubly so the life of the Imperius Invictus.
Princeps Victor Thanatos of Imperius Odiosus, Warlord class[/color] Princeps Victor Thanatos is one of the greatest heroes of Proteus, and has the highest number of killed titans in the Legio Lancea. Something of a lone wolf, Thanatos works best alone and is feared as much as awed by many of the younger Princeps in the legion. If anything, Thanatos appearance only adds to this fear, his gaunt features and long black hair undeniably similar to the Angel of Death which is the logo of Imperius Odiosus.
In addition to being the top ace of the Legion, Thanatos is a great hero of the Anargo sector. On the world Tryphon, Thanatos was instrumental in the mutant uprisings in M37. Cut off from the rest of the Imperial forces on Tryphon, Thanatos discovered an enemy army on route to the city Daria. Knowing that he could not defeat such an enemy by force alone, Thanatos came up with a risky plan that would ensure him a place in the history books of the Collegiate Titanicus. Using his weapons to start an avalanche from the snowy mountains surrounding the city, Thanatos successfully buried his Titan in the snow and powered down his Titan to avoid detection. As the reckless mutant army passed by without detecting the Titan, Thanatos powered up and rose from the snow with guns roaring. More than half the enemy army was annihilated before the mutants even knew who was attacking and had regrouped to face the ambushing Titan. Suffering only moderate damage, Thanatos annihilated the mutant army and saved the million citizens of Daria. As soon as the worldwide mutant uprising had been stopped, a monument was erected on Tryphon in his honour.
Princeps Phillip Xavier Shima of Imperius Immolare, Reaver class[/color] A son of the noble House Shima on Nagoma, Princeps Phillip Xavier Shima is one of the few young Princeps in the Legion who have been given command of the ancient Reaver class Titan. Princeps Shima’s Titan, the Imperius Immolare is configured with a rather unusual armament for a Reaver, with two gatling blasters, and without the trademark carapace mounted missile launcher of the Reaver class.
The young Princeps was recently made a hero of Legio Lancea when he was decorated with the Ebony Halo on account of his sacrifice on Massil. The Ebony Halo is a medal usually presented to Princeps posthumously, and represents a detachment from flesh and sacrifice for the Machine God. On the battle of Black Falls on Massil, Princeps Shima fought alongside a dozen other titans of Legio Lancea against the ork horde of Warlord Garksnik Manik. The battle was an overwhelming victory for the Imperials, with the newly arrived Titans taking the overconfident orks by surprise. Victory was hard fought however, and as the battle drew to a close the Burning Lances’ leading Titan, the Warmonger called Imperius Laureatus leading the Titan force was all but torn apart.
The old Emperor class Titan limped back towards its command depot as its brother-Titans held the line when the Great Gargant Tufzag Og Manik ambushed the Imperius Laureatus. Taking the Emperor class Titan completely by surprise, the ork Gargant crippled the Imperius Laureatus in moments, leaving it immobilised and unable to bring its weapons to bear against the ambusher. Though the Great Gargant was heavily armed, the Warmonger was able to raise its void shields before it was utterly destroyed, and postpone its death at least for a while. Minute by minute, void shields collapsed, and the crew of the Imperius Laureatus could do nothing but pray. Their prayers were heard, and Princeps Shima came to their aid, bravely assaulting the Great Gargant against all odds. The smaller Reaver Titan could not possibly hope for victory against such a foe, yet the young Princeps fought on to distract the Great Gargant from destroying the Imperius Laureatus. In the end, the dwarfed Reaver Titan fell, its void shields collapsed and its legs shot to pieces. The Great Gargant would have destroyed the Reaver then, but the young Princeps had foiled his opponent and lured the Great Gargant into the grasp of the Imperius Laureatus. A sudden storm of fire exploded through the Ork machine, and the two Imperial Titans remained, both crippled but alive.
When the recovery teams found Princeps Shima, he was the only living crew member of his Titan, half his body burned and torn by explosions. By all rights, the Titan’s machine spirit should have short-circuited by the damage and Shima been killed, but both survived, a proof of the indestructible bond between man and machine. Now, Princeps Shima is more machine than man, his noble features distorted by the metal-covered half of his face. His Reaver Titan, the Imperius Immolare has been rebuilt, and decorated with the shield of the family from his homeworld, three angelic feathers.
Princeps Jason Leander of Imperius Caecus, Warhound class[/color] Princeps Leander is a promising young maverick of the Burning Lances who, according to the elders of the Legion, is destined for great things. Something of a prodigy, Leander was once the youngest Princeps ever to have joined the Burning Lances, and has done nothing to fail the expectations of his brother-Princeps’ in his years as a Princeps.
The young Princeps was recently awarded the highly prestigious decoration Ultima Honorifica Imperialis Mundanus by the Imperial Guard, following his accomplishments in the Efreema campaign on the ork world Nazdram. Supporting a company of mechanised storm troopers, the Imperius Caecus fought behind enemy lines for two weeks, effectively gutting the enemy by taking out their supply lines. Upon his return, the many recent charges of disobedience were either dropped, or ignored by Grand Master Quirinius.

The Protean fleet[/color] The forgeworld Proteus has a large and proud fleet of transports, tenders, research ships, tugs, hospital ships and more. The fleet contains no registered warships because of ancient decrees from the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, which authorised none other than the Imperial Navy to have warp-capable military ships. For the same reasons, these ancient decrees also dictate that the Titan Legions of the Adeptus Mechanicus are only allowed to use Imperial Navy transports, same as the Imperial Guard. The Centurio Ordinatus are an exception to this rule, as they require a large Adeptus Mechanicus support system and are sufficiently vulnerable that they do not form a big threat on their own.
The ships of the Protean fleet have a few main functions. First of all, they import and export various materials and goods, such as ores, food, machine parts and so on. Second of all, they assist the Imperial Navy with repairs and various supplies. Third, the Protean fleet has a considerable research element, with many dedicated research ships and support ships. The ships in this category often form small squadrons and travel the sector and beyond, investigating uncolonised planets, space hulks, alien ship wrecks and more.
Of course, not all is what it seems. Though the Adeptus Mechanicus is not permitted to have warp-capable warships, they are permitted to equip their ships with defensive weapon systems. Furthermore, there are many types of equipment that may be used for offensive purposes. Ionisation cutting beams used to mine asteroids and dissect space hulks can quickly be turned into devastating short-range lance weapons. There are countless ways for the Adeptus Mechanicus to secretly upgrade a so-called research ship or scout ship into a highly capable warship, and there are countless way to hide or excuse the presence of military ground forces, and even Titans, onboard a ship that is over a kilometre long.

[glow=red,2,300] [/glow]
Omniships (2) An Omniship is a warp-capable vessel the size of an Imperial capital ship, built and equipped to handle a variety of different missions and operate decades without support or supplies. Of all the ships of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Omniships are typically the most valuable and the most heavily defended. It should come as little surprise that these ships as a rule of thumb have at least double the amount of weapons shown in their Administratum records, in addition to their ability to transport and deploy full armies in planetary surface battles.
Proteus class Omniship: Asherah (000420.M32) [Archmagos Minerva ] Proteus class Omniship: Ravenlord (560780.M37) [Archmagos Weriel]
Tenders (8)[/color] The Adeptus Mechanicus maintains a variety of different tenders, both to compliment the fleets of the Imperial Navy and to support Imperial star ships and space stations overall. Forge tenders are dedicated to repair and maintenance of ships and space stations, and are used in everything from routine checks of listening posts to emergency battle repairs on warships. Hospital ships usually accompany large battlefleets, especially in campaigns where ground troops are transported in troop carriers across the stars. Taking some of the pressure of the medical bays of the troop carriers, the hospital ships have dedicated medic-servitors and biologis tech priests equipped with the finest hospital equipment of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Goliath class forge tender: Ironfather (591366.M34) [Magos Karsk] Goliath class forge tender: Silverhammer (717298.M35) [Magos Gaius Loria] Ryza class forge tender: Light of Sol (650268.M39) [Magos Minesta Woldram] Atlas class forge tender: FT316PA (098316.M39) [Magos Samwell] Pegasus class tugboat: TX138YR (662138.M33) [Magos Fuerno] Proteus class tugboat: Hand of Mars (428887.M39) [Magos Chezno] Sanguinius class hospital ship: HX911PA (134911.M40) [Magos Dremak ] Celestine class hospital ship: Enlightened (982111.M41) [Magos Galmariel]
Transports (16)[/color] Most of the Adeptus Mechanicus transports transport raw materials, processed materials and some goods between to and from forgeworlds and knight worlds. Most forgeworlds are extremely careful about letting visitors come close, and some go so far as only allowing Mechanicus ships and Inquisitorial ships. Compared to civil transports, the transports of the Adeptus Mechanicus are very advanced ships with minimal crew. Because the Mechanicus ships rarely show any sign of life on the scanners or elsewhere, many outsiders believe that these ships are crewed by machine spirits and refer to them as ‘Mechanicus ghost ships’.
Land class Super-heavy barge: Will of Sol (740223.M34) [Archmagos Cyndra] Land class Super-heavy barge: Flawless (801064.M33) [Archmagos Axwen] Cyclops class Heavy barge: Incandescent (440790.M29) [Magos Mandura] Behemoth class Heavy barge: HB990PA (281990.M38) [Magos Bruna] Behemoth class Heavy barge: Iron Golem (632108.M40) [Magos Chusse] Patriarch class Carrier barge: Nadriel’s Vision (301556.M38) [Magos Sutran] Proteus class Barge: Immortal (698300.M37) [Magos Trandosan] Eternity class Barge: BX004PA (228765.M39) [Magos Wyrm] Infinity class Barge: Uriel (855208.M38) [Magos Emilson] Stalwart class Freighter: FX444PA (512444.M40) [High Priest Koia] Stalwart class Freighter: FX409YR (798409.M40) [High Priest Azdeka] Ytha class Freighter: FX637YR (709022.M41) [High Priest Choban] Relentless class Freighter: Selfless (520331.M36) [High Priest Adriansen] Relentless class Freighter: FX381PA (545381.M37) [High Priest Erasmus] Relentless class Freighter: FX902PA (753902.M37) [High Priest Montanus]
Surveyors (7)[/color] Even in sectors that were conquered by the Imperium more than ten thousand years ago, there is still much that remains undiscovered. The Adeptus Mechanicus maintains a number of surveyor ships that constantly scour the galaxy in search of lost colonies, space anomalies, alien colonies and more. Since their sole purpose is discovery, surveyor type ships are typically very small, more or less unarmed, and extremely fast. The vessels dedicated to the Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator division also fall under this category, though they are slightly larger and better equipped. Similar to the huge Omniships, the Explorator vessels are built to handle a variety of different missions.
Mars class Explorator vessel: Martian Prophet (000686.M31) [Magos Jazot] Proteus class Explorator vessel: Land’s Legacy (011342.M35) [Magos Orman] Falcon class Scout ship: SX712YR (850712.M37) [High Priest Jardis] Falcon class Scout ship: SX639MM (110639.M35) [High Priest Revan] Eagle class Scout ship: SX132PA (457132.M40) [High Priest Taamot] Raven class Probe ship: Illuminated (500628.M36) [High Priest Yvaht] Raven class Probe ship: PX442PA (834442.M39) [High Priest Olweus]

Cool, though partially skim read (apologies)... Some notes:
"High Council" Is this not the Protean Symposium?
"Archmagos Ultima of Proteus and the Anargo sector..." I though the principle of the Forgeworlds was that they were, for the most part, 'independent'? As such he would nominally only be Archmagos Ultima, or whatever, of Proteus. The fact that he would have significant influence over Anargo Secundus is a given...
"...member of the Unionist Paradigm..." Paradigm was defined as combination of Philosophy with Faction. While the 'Unionist' might be a specific term to Proteus, it is made to sound as something more like a Philosophy or Faction...
Tara Minerva A member of what I will refer to as the Protean Symposium galivanting around on an OmniCruiser? Smacks of Picard and 'away' missions, surely?
Philosophy/Faction... This should be included for all of the main 'characters' of the Symposium, surely? Variation in paradigm belief might also be appropriate?
Heroes, etc. This was a part that I skipped over... It looked all fairly 'cool' but also wargame-y. I know, I know. That's not necessarily true, but needed to get to the numbers...
Ship Numbers Cannot really comment on these since it is, to me, devoid of 'sizes'... Omniships seem rather powerful, and one might be reticent to incude two...?

Cool, though partially skim read (apologies)... Some notes: "High Council"Is this not the Protean Symposium? Well, it has been the High Council for a while now. I don't remember anything about a 'Protean Symposium'. I do remember something about a martian symposium though. It's been a while since I wrote this, so I don't remember where I got 'Archmagos Ultima" from, if I did indeed get it from the official fluff. The idea, anyway, is that the Archmagos Ultima is generally the head of the AM in a sector. As it happens, the Archmagos Ultima in Anargo is seated on Proteus, which is the oldest forgeworld in the sector. Anargo Secundus is fairly independent, but no Adeptus Mechanicus forgeworld is truly independent. Even above the Archmagos Ultima, you have the members of the Symposium, and the Fabricator General himself. Of course, when I wrote this, Anargo Secundus was not a forgeworld, so the Archmagos Ultima of Proteus was just the boss of Proteus, and the various tech priests scattered around the Anargo sector. The knight worlds, the mechanicus citadels in the Sargassos subsector, etc. Perhaps you would like to read about the Paradigms in the Adeptus Mechanicus thread, and possibly expand upon your comments there. I didn't quite understand what you mean. I've long felt that all Mechanicus magi have a certain Picard feeling to them. (Of course, I have no knowledge of the Star Trek universe, so perhaps this is inappropriate). Not that they spend most of their time exploring and doing, but that they occassionaly step out of their ivory towers and work on whatever pet project they have. Such as when Archmagos Kobotov in Souldrinker suddenly took a short trip to meet some Space Marines, in the novel Soul Drinker. I don't imagine that Minerva is out travelling all the time, but I still wanted her to be the captain of that ship. Slightly Munchkin, but not too much. Perhaps. But not everyone fits into these categories, necessarily. I'll expand a bit on their beliefs though. No, no, it is true. And that was the point! I only saw one of them as 'rather powerful'. The idea was that they can be rather powerful, but don't have to be. The second of the two is supposed to be more of a standard 'research' ship. Far from defenseless, but also far inferior to a Navy line cruiser. As for sizes, most of it should be fairly clear. OmniShips are comparable to capital ships in size. Cruisers. We've already been over the various non-military ship types. Super heavy barge = battleship, barge = cruiser, etc. The tenders are somewhere between Navy escorts and light cruisers.

Well, it has been the High Council for a while now. I don't remember anything about a 'Protean Symposium'. I do remember something about a martian symposium though. Yes, yes... The "Martian Symposium" was a title suggested to replace the rather unpalatable "Martial Parliament" even though, etymologically, 'parliament' might have been a more appropriate term. It was just a suggestion but it kind of stuck. The change was suggested for the sake of consistency and 'conformance'. Yes, you might have been thinking about it as the "High Council" for some time, now. Yes, it might have been that way for some time now, but copy and paste doesn't really take that long... Surely? (I have, after all, had to revise totally the entire Anargo subsector, will have to change the Anargo SR, alter the Anargo Secundus SR, etc., etc. because of changes that were made by members... A tad more work, perhaps, than edit/replace? Sorry for sounding a tiny bit bitter...) If you have a problem with the term 'Symposium', which is fair enough, then fine. Take it to PPL, which is what that forum is for. I can see a reason for it being 'Protean Symposium', 'Protean Parliament' (despite the horrendous illiteration) or even 'Protean Council' (i.e. utilisation of it in the 'English' sense with Parliament, local Councils, etc.). Heck, even 'Protean Corporation' would work other than peoples tendency to automatically associate that with a 'company'. The 'high' isn't strictly necessarily, regardless. The idea, anyway, is that the Archmagos Ultima is generally the head of the AM in a sector. As it happens, the Archmagos Ultima in Anargo is seated on Proteus, which is the oldest forgeworld in the sector. And it is for this reason that I questioned, rather than stated. I can definitely see a reason why he might be considered the 'Ultima' of the sector given the new forgeworld around Anargo Secundus, one that is overtly specialised around the creation of starships. (And another reason for the discussion on ship production...) In many regards it is almost like Anargo Secundus is a 'captive government' of Proteus. With that said, however, one of the common little 'bits' of the 'fluff' that is used to perpetuate a part of the 'feel' of the Forgeworlds, and one of the reasons I believe that you created the concept of the Paradigm out of the Philosophies, was that each of the Forgeworlds is broadly 'independent'. They jealously guard their secrets, etc. That is why I questioned the term. Anargo Secundus is fairly independent... Yes, I know this. But the 'truly' is the question. It is just the possibility or appearance of independence. Of course, when I wrote this, Anargo Secundus was not a forgeworld... Yep, that is true. It seems that with the development everyone is beginning to have to change some of their basic ideas, as well as accept things that they would rather not accept. Perhaps you would like to read about the Paradigms in the Adeptus Mechanicus thread... I have read about the Paradigms, but some time ago. And please could people stop telling me to read different threads! Such as when Archmagos Kobotov in Souldrinker suddenly took a short trip to meet some Space Marines, in the novel Soul Drinker. Fair enough... bad choice of novel, however, since it absolutely sucks. I don't imagine that Minerva is out travelling all the time, but I still wanted her to be the captain of that ship. Slightly Munchkin, but not too much. Fair enough... and she can remain in contact by taking a Astropath anyway... whether a Servomat could be taken is another question. I remain unfamiliar with size considerations by term because, well, that is something you get familiar with by familiarity with the wargame. So it is not 'clear' just by a title, since the sizes I'm familiar with dealing with comes from game universes that do not involve the... stupendous... sizes of ships that GW likes to bandy around. I remember broad 'displacement' categories were being diddled around with. Did anything come of this? I've looked for them, but seen only lists of names only... Kage

The change was suggested for the sake of consistency and 'conformance'. Yes, you might have been thinking about it as the "High Council" for some time, now. Yes, it might have been that way for some time now, but copy and paste doesn't really take that long... Surely? I wasn't saying I was unwilling to change it. I was just saying that we hadn't changed it yet. No one has mentioned a 'Protean Symposium' before today. But yes, I will change it. Now that I think about it, 'High Council' does sound like a cliché, and I did like the word 'Symposium'. In my opinion, no forgeworld is truly independent. They're almost independent, kind of like Space Marine chapters. They'd have to do something terrible for others to directly intervene, but there's still a small chance. If Anargo Secundus decided they would stop making space ships, I have a feeling that the rest of the Adeptus Mechanicus (who invested quite a lot of resources) would get upset and do something. Fine by me, as long as everyone keeps using smileys and stay polite and open for discussion. Within reason, of course. And that's where it gets tricky Ok, but given the reasons in that essay, I think 'Unionist' is an appropriate name for the paradigm. But then, I'm not familiar with any paradigms from real life, so I wouldn't know how they are named. LoL! On that, at least, we seem to agree. Precisely. Because of the very autonomous nature of the Adeptus Mechanicus, I don't see the 'Protean Symposium' as having a whole lot of work to do. They won't be the mob of rambling senators who do nothing but talk politics. Not as I see them. I made a spreadsheet once. I'll send it to you now if you want.
