It's not surprising. The patchwork approach to world creation and the myopic focus of the production of worlds - a faut of the project itself to this point - created a situation where there was little information to go up on the site.
If you know of anyone out there who is itnerested in producing webpage, then feel free. But, heck, even a simple frameset would work. Once the basis of the "Mission Statement" begins to move forwards then there will at least be some information that is relatively speaking set in stone.

Is it time to tell Zark, Zoom and Iron "now or never", and possibly start looking for other people who might be interested? I have no idea who that would be, but it's worth a thought, I think. Things have been standing amazingly still. I'm still in, just stalled. I haven't had much time for the GW hobby in general for the past few months, and guess I got frustrated by the apparent stagnation fo the project at that time. However, I'm still willing to dedicate time and resources to the Anargo website. As an aside, I upgraded my webserver package, I have php and MySQL available for use, and practically unlimited space. I've also been learning php and interfacing it with MySQL, so I can be more help on the dynamic site side of things. Again, apologies for the abscence, I'm getting back into the hobby now EDIT: I just got around to creating a subdomain for anargo, it'll be better than using that domain forwarder currently in use: anargo.dread-zone.co.uk/It should be routed through in a day or so.

Again, glad to see you back Zark. Do you have any suggestions on the best means of representing things given the "Mission Statement". That is to say that we're going to have some 'concrete' information with regards to the sector (i.e. world UWP, concept, etc.) do you have som eideas about how this could be put onto a 'framework' site?

Hey Zark, welcome back. Don't get me wrong, I never meant to hold a grudge against you for disappearing from the project for a while. Sometimes people disappear for various reasons. I just felt it might be better to look for someone else, since you were gone. But now you're back - hopefully for a good while - so that's besides the point now. As you can see, the ASP has come a long way from where you left us. A lot more worlds have been created, and the sector is getting increasingly integrated and complex. Thanks in part to Kage's mission statement, we're focusing on connecting worlds and subsectors and history and everything. In the early days of the project, I must admit that I didn't think too much beyond the simple layout of sector-subsector-world. Now it seems that we're getting an increasing amount of extra articles and appendices. Sector history, subsector history, subsector politics, intersector politics, etc. We need to find a clever way to organise all this on a website.

I am thinking of a system where an admin can enter an article into the database, and use a few columns to 'link' that info with one or more other databases.
For example, an article which explains the cross-sector politics between the Anargo and Archios subsectors would be added, under the category Politics, and with links to Anargo and Archios subsectors.
If any particular planets are involved in the article, those could be linked too (so they would show up on that planet's page).
Most articles are considered seperate from the general planetery information and would be held in a different part of the database.
Say, for example, Meksum. Meksum would have an entry in the Planets table, describing information about it (history, military, and so on) with a link to it's system and subsector.
When a user goes to the Meksum page on the website, a list of articles would be built by looking at the articles table and searching for any which have Meksum as one of the planets relating to it.
Similar thing goes for sunsectors and systems.

I'm not ignoring this, Zark, I'm just digesting. Oh a quick note you might want to make suggestions, if appropriate, in the relevant forums (including Anargo at a Glance") so the information you need is included...

No problem Kage, I'm still making a mental map of the data structure (which keeps getting disturbed by the coding I do at work, lots of database stuff recently).
My current thinking is that the data in the database will be pointed at each other via ids - so, a planet in the database just houses it's stats (gravitational constants and so on), it's name, id, and the id of the system it's in. Similarily, a system will feature the id of the subsector it's in, and a few basic facts about the system.
All the rest of the details would be added to 'articles' - a table holds these. When someone adds an aritcle, they choose a category for it (history, politics, etc) and can then link it to one or more subsectors, systems, or planets (or Xenos races etc).
When someone looks at the site, and hits a page (e.g. a planet) they get the basic information, plus a list of article titles that are linked to it.
In addition, articles will have their own ids, making it possible to link to other articles by referencing their id.
I'll try get a test built soon, a demo would be better than me trying to explain it...

Sounds like a brilliant plan to me ;D
And though you might not want to think about it now, the final product should have an easy way of finding articles that are not directly connected to the Anargo Sector, such as articles on the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Eldar, the Orks, and other general things in the 40k universe.
There should be an easier way of finding these than searching in an archive of articles that contain all the hundreds (if not thousands) of articles that belong to the ASP.

Yeah, I can add another section for the articles to link them to an organisation, such as the admech or imp.navy.
As with the other articles, you'd be able to use multiple tags, e.g. a battle between Orks and Navy would be flagged to appear under both.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I think I figured out a way of searching for articles containing certain text, like the portent forum search, just need to test that too when I get the chance.

Great, great. Just give us a demo and we can really get the snowball rolling It would probably be easier for people to comment when they can actually see how it might turn out.

When someone adds an aritcle, they choose a category for it (history, politics, etc) and can then link it to one or more subsectors, systems, or planets (or Xenos races etc). That seems like it might work... Not quite what I had in mind originally, but this one might actually work which is the important difference. It would also work with the 'minimal' information that we have now, and that's something that I'm keen to get going as soon as we have the basic premise of the "Mission Statement" completed (i.e. rectified UWP, concepts and some expanded 'thumbmail' images). As pointed out by schoon by PM, once again the dreaded idea of a map of the Anargo sector showing the subsectors in relation to each other and the worlds of the subsector in relation to each other is raised once again. When someone looks at the site, and hits a page (e.g. a planet) they get the basic information, plus a list of article titles that are linked to it. If done correctly that could be quite interesting. Kind of like searching through the archives of the adeptus administratum and the Inquisition, which is one of the reasons that I have been keen on maintaining some of the confusion of the whole UWP scenario. In addition, articles will have their own ids, making it possible to link to other articles by referencing their id. Guess we're going to see how it works on some demonstration articles. There is enough information in the "reasonably" accepted worlds, i.e. Tryphon and Anargo - actually, strike that: make it Tryphon since I'm going to be changing Anargo shortly - to represent your thoughts for us. Maybe also CELS "Codex Orks", though nothing else springs to mind at the moment as being something that I am comfortable with at the moment. (And before people start twitching, there is a reason for this that is not based in the quality of articles, which is usually high...) I'll try get a test built soon, a demo would be better than me trying to explain it... You said it... But one thing that I would urge. People can not whilly-nilly put stuff on the site. Rather that is the job of a restricted group of people...

Yeah, the admin section wouldn't be for every user, just the staff. There will be in place a user management system, so we can add people who can maintain and edit articles.
A full set of ranks/permissions/privaledges will need to be decided upon at some stage.
As for the articles themselves, I am thinking of implementing some sort of code system like on this forum, so certain parts can be highlighted in bold. Such a tag could be like (article:05)TEXT(/article) - this would make the indicated text a link to article 05 in the database (a list of articles and their ids would be available in the admin area)

Here's a question for you, Zark. What do you need from us to get a basic premise site up and running. I'm talking with some basic information upon the worlds (not the full SRs), etc. At the moment I'm working on the principle that you need the rectified SRs and concepts (or rather "thumbnail images", which includes both physical and social/historical description), some basic information on "connectivity" (trade/warp routes) as well as a quick over-arching premise on the history of the sector as a whole...
But what else do you want or, indeed, how might the above data be best represented for you so that you can get it all working?
Furthermore, is there anything that you need doing artistically - or through some other skill that you don't have the experience with or time to do - that some other member of the board might be able to do?

Furthermore, is there anything that you need doing artistically - or through some other skill that you don't have the experience with or time to do - that some other member of the board might be able to do? I would say that for a basic overview, I'd need perhaps 2 systems (with a few paragraphs of info of each), about 10 planets (split between the systems, again with a basic overview of each one), a three or four random articles which may be related to one or more of the entities, and probably a picture for each planet (not necessarily the correct one, it can be fixed later). I've been busy at work again recently, haven't had much chance to seriously write stuff down for Anargo. However, I've been thinking about the design (layout), I think it could use an overhaul. I've learnt a lot about standards etc since the current one, I could probably make a new one which works far better now. I'll try get a few sketches done. Also, regarding webspace, I may be able to negotiate a cheap price for virtually unlimited space, plus a proper domain name (instead of the forwarder set up at the moment). Let me know if there is interest in this, I'll get a quote. I would be willing to pay out of my own pocket for this, although donations would be appreciated I bring this up because I want to use my personal webspace for my own stuff, and not have too many databases on that server.

Between the worlds currently in the Archive, Tir'asur and CELS ork article... you seem to have enough to go with at the moment? Th rectified UWP/concepts should also give you some information that you can add on as a taster...? I would be willing to pay out of my own pocket for this, although donations would be appreciated I was going to pay for this myself, but I'm up for that! Once I've figured out how private PayPal is I might be able to send some funds your way...
