I been thinking that we'd better pin this down reasonably soon, so here's my thought (Kage might recognise it a bit ;D ):
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the Anargo Sector Project.
The Anargo Sector Project is set in the universe of Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000. The company tends to approach the universe as an agent to sell their wargame, which is fair enough, but numerous people over the world have realised that not only are there severe holes in what they call the 'fluff' but there is also a great deal of potential...
As a result the Project was set up to create a consistent and detailed example of an Imperial sector in that universe. A volume of space forming a cube with 200 light years on a side, there are over 21,000 astronomical objects with the Anargo Sector of which many are stars and many have planetary systems. Six sub-sectors were created to populate this sector in terms of the Imperium, but there is scope for so much more.
While the Anargo Sector Project was originally created on the Portent forum with the aim of utilising the knowledge and interest therein, unfortunately questions of the appropriateness of the project were raised. As a result of this the project died down and, ultimately, this prevented any decision on the future of the project at Portent. As such in the hope of reinvigorating the project a separate board was opened up which gave the Project Leaders and Members both the power and ability to open threads on subjects that they considered important, rather than artificially restricting it to a limited number of threads.
The project also aims to cover both RPG and wargame aspects of the universe, an ambitious approach admittedly but one that sticks to the initial goals of the project: to create a sector that one could immerse oneself in. On the wargame side of things obviously the WH40K 3E will be covered, but it is also hoped that Mighty Empires derivatives will be included for consistent campaigning in the 40k universe (and the Anargo Sector specifically) will be included, as well as for BFG, Necromunda, Inquisitor, etc. For RPG we're open to everyone, though Project Overlord Kage comes with GURPS Rogue Trader under development...
A note on contributing: we welcome anyone with ideas for how the project could be improved. Obviously, knowledge of the 40K universe is preferred, but the vast majority of those reading will already know most of what we’re talking about. We have spaces for artists, world designers, writers of fiction, game playtesters… You name it and we can probably use it.
The Roll of Honour:
Project Overlord and Commander Anargo Sub-sector: Kage2020 Commander Castellan Sub-sector: Sikkukkut Commander Proteus Sub-sector: CELS Commander Meksum Sub-sector: - zholud Commander Dorvastor Sub-sector and Fleet Commander: Minister Voice of Kage: CELS Voice of Kage: Zoomdog AFMetalicus Farseer Kythil Mc Haggis ZarkTheDamned Milika (Etc. etc. See if we can round up all those who made significant Portent contributions too)
Links:
(Portent, obviously, and anywhere else we become officially or unofficially affiliated with. Probably the GW site too, just to keep the lawyers off of our backs).
Disclaimer:
(You know the one, we really have to put it up)

Looks good. My suggestions; 1) We need some turn-on's in the introduction, to lure people to visit our forum. Obviously, creating a sector will sound interesting enough to the right sort of people, but if we also mention that we're actually creating an Eldar homeworld, a Space Marine Chapter, creating a more detailed background for the Ministorum, the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Merchant fleet, etc, people will go "Hey! That's my favourite feature in the 40k universe! Cool!" It's the difference between saying "Do you want ice-cream?" and "Do you want chocolate and vanilla icecream with slices of banana and pineapple with hot fudge?" 2) Perhaps write up the artists as artists and webdesigners as webdesigners? And add Nathan, Boondock Saint and vijil to the list, even if they're pretty busy these days. Nathan just finished a new tech priest scetch which was pretty damn cool, btw, in the Portent artwork forum.

So far we have everything from the Capital Hiveworld to the Cardinal world, the Mechanicus Forgeworlds to a Marine Chapter House. Even the Orks and Eldar have interests here.
What's more, the ASP has always been aimed towards getting a full sector, not just a list of systems. Battlefleet Anargo is well underway, religious sects are being detailed, new alien races populate the wilderness zones... You get the idea.

Perfect! This goes on the "teaser" introduction page with the artwork, extracts from fiction and world building and map images, right?

I would think so. It could also be used as an actual introduction page on the inal should we so wish.

Hmmn... quite good. Two things, however: 1) I'm not entirely sure that the gripe against Portent is appropriate on the main site. Portent did a lot of good and I cannot really grudge the fact that some members felt that it was taking the wind out of their sails, as it were. For me the current status of Portent 40k Background is proof enough, so perhaps best to leave this out. 2) Please do not refer to me as an 'overlord' or somesuch. Project Leader is more than enough and lacks ostentation, which I prefer... Kage

Did it sound like a gripe? It wasn't suposed to...
While the Anargo Sector Project was originally created on the Portent forum with the aim of utilising the knowledge and interest therein, Eventually the Project was moved to its own forum to give our rather sprawling discussions room to manuver.

Being a pathetic artist, I had not been paying that much atention to the artist section. Being insular, I had been paying atention only to those sections which directly afected my own sub-sector and the fleet. I'm getting better, though.

I think the intro is good BTW.

I freed up some time, and am working on the intro site.
Please post final copy for the front page intro asap, so I can get it up.
'The Team' will be a seperate page, so if someone could do up a list of members and what they are doing I'll add them.
Also, I will be adding a sample work page. The planned contents for this are a couple of paragraphs from the Proteus sector, with a few pictures from it.
We could also do with a Logo. Until someone tells me otherwise I will use my latest version of the Anargo Crest, modified to fit in with the site colour scheme.
I will be using the layout and colours from the design page, as I would like the intro to be consitent with the final design.
OK, I go do work now.

The Roll of Honour... Kage - Project leader (aka Da Boss), Anargo subsector, Eldar Sikkukkut - Castellan subsector, Space Marines CELS - Proteus Subsector, Nagoma, Aquina Minister - Dorvastor subsector, the Anargo Navy Zholud - Meksum subsector Sojourner - Unnamed planet Zidagar Dinoman - Altarra Skabbhatt - Antares Malika - Discussant Rogue Trader - Artist ZarkTheDamned - Webdesign You might want to change the list a bit, Zark, and maybe call everyone who's working on a planet 'World builder' or something like that, instead of naming their individual planet. I'll leave that difficult decision to you No, this list does not include everyone who is a member of the forum, nor everyone who's ever posted on the forum. For those of you who have not been mentioned and who are reading this; know that the ones the names on the list have been mentioned because they have been here longer than you, and thus put more work in the project, by world building and/or providing useful ideas. The list does not include everyone that have contributed to the project earlier, but vanished for some reason or another, such as most of our artists, ZoomDog, McHaggis, Farseer Kythil or Juddski. This is not because they haven't done anything for the project, but because they are not active members at this time. Again, I must stress that this is not because I do not feel that they deserve a mention. I'm still in awe of Juddski for all his contributions, for example. It's just that this is an introduction page that is supposed to tell the visitors what we're about and who we are, so I see little point in mentioning people who aren't with us anymore. If I have forgotten someone (not unlikely), please do not hesitate to cry out your objections. The list is up for debate. For those of you who have only posted once or twice on the forum however... have patience. Your name will get on the list when you've got started properly That is, unless someone overrules my decision and decides that everyone should get a mention on the introduction site... The final introduction is as follows... Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the Anargo Sector Project.

Sounds perfectly good to me. I'm in the Roll of Honour? Well thank you! A minor complain, it's spelled Skabbhatt. This introduction page is gonna replace the forum in ours "signature link" I presume.

The thought was to have a homepage which can be put in as an introduction so that people know what the frell is going on before we drop them into the forums.
