As some may have noticed, I've been creating yet another alien race for the ASP. You can read more about them here and here. Does someone feel up for the challenge of creating some artwork for them?

I see. Just demonstrating that I'm dependent on you, eh? Fair enough I have a hand-drawn scetch, but I don't have it with me now, and I can't really be bothered drawing a new one and going through the hassle of scanning it. So I've just done a crappy scetch using my beloved Microsoft Paint. The head might look a little something like this, only with a shorter snout. And less fur. They do have fur, but not long fur. Think siamese cat fur. www.cnn.com/interactive/books/9908/animals/content12.htmlThe thing that looks like a cross between a shrimp's tail and a sea horse is actually its feet. As you might have read, the Joveans use their feet to manipulate tools, and rely on their arms and hands for movement. The Joveans have two arms and two legs, no tail, and they have 4-6 digits. I haven't really decided. It's just to show you the basic idea

Oi! This is brilliant! We're closer than I'd hoped. Love the DareDevil ears by the way ;D And the hands are great. But... it doesn't seem that you understand their physique at the moment. On your drawing, they have powerful legs and relatively weak arms, like humans. But these aliens use their hands for movement, so their arms would be almost as thick as our legs. Like gorillas! Their legs on the other hand, would be quite weak and their feet would be very different from ours. Imagine having to use a remote control or a mobile phone with your feet, and then you should get the idea of what their feet should be like. Still, great start! Er, CELS, you did mean Joveans instead of Vaeloni, right? ;D ;D Never said Vaeloni.... *whistles*

Yeah, much better! I kinda want them to have their feet in front of them though. Also, their legs need to be so short and weak that walking on them is clearly not an option. I've tried to illustrate here; I'm open for your thoughts on their physiology though. If there's a reason why you're drawing them like this (realism, evolution, whatever), then please share it with me. I'm still trying how these guys would actually eat. Their legs would have to be quite different from ours if they should be able to put their feet in their mouth. Second... could you give me some alternatives for their heads and faces, please? Right not, the Joveans you've drawn all look a bit different. I'd like to move away from the bulldog look and move towards a mory rodent/catlike head. So, some alternatives would be great

how about bushbaby/cyotte/joey kangroo type?(as in no 1,*rough pencil*) also how/where do you want the mouth?,thanks for the diagrams but the legs look more snake like that mamalian? i was having trouble getting my head around where(if any) the joints would be?i've done the arms REALLYbig to emphasize the strenght they must have in the upper body ,the spine is that shape because at that angle ,that's how i'd imagine it to look. .**personally i like the bushbaby look to give the impression of intelgence and not a killing machine until you look at the arms and realise that it could do you some serious damage, even if it is only 1 metre high?** ;D img.photobucket.com/albums/v420/juddski/Xenos/CELS3.jpg

Hmph... Maybe I have to reconsider the look of these aliens. They come from a low grav world, so they're going to be really slender. If their world is 0.5 g or less, they won't need arms like you made them. I like the look of the creature on the right of your last drawing, but it was too heavy. As for number 1 on the left, I think the head is interesting, if you could just shorten the snout a little. Maybe instead of deer-like ears, they could be more cat-like, but small. Small ears. Oh, and the body of number 1 isn't going to work, I'm afraid. It's going to have difficulties using tools and eating with those feet. A little while ago, I thought that it would be unrealistic to have the Joveans keep their legs in front of them, since they'd get very tired. But... if it's a low gravity world and the Joveans are very slender (like Sebulba) then it won't be a problem. They would have a stance where they're leaning slightly backwards. The other thing about Sebulba is that he has double-jointed legs, which allows him to use his feet for eating. Perhaps the Joveans need similar legs, or perhaps we can get away with just giving them different types of joints and muscles. Some people can put their feet behind their head, if they help with their hands (since their legs are obviously not strong enough). Perhaps with some other muscles, the Joveans could do this unaided by their hands. Even if it is a low-g race, they would definitely have extremely strong arms. In addition, they might need some retractable claws, for climbing?

LoL! No, I don't regret it at all! This is going better than I had hoped. Of course, that is saying something ;D As long as you're willing to keep drawing and talking with me, we're fine. Looking at your latest drawings, I hope that mobile phone has a good speaker, because he's holding it 15 inches away from his mouth I don't know why their heads look like that though. I said I liked the kangaroo look, except for the long snout and long ears. Your latest version has no mouth, but something that is either a strange chin or an enormous Adam's apple (Just kidding!) Let's go back to the kangaroo head a bit more! The arms are still too muscular and the position of the waist and legs is still not right. Key-words; Slender and low-gravity. They need their delicate and able feet in front of them, so they can cook, use their remote controll and play console video games. Look at Sebulba. He can easily do all of these things. Perhaps it would be best if you just did some brainstorming and tried out a lot of different poses, and we could see what you came up with?

Homerun! I LOVE[/i][/u][/color] the two last ones. Those are keepers, without a doubt.
Now all that remains, if you're still interested, is painting some 'modern' Joveans. The space faring kind. What would their soldiers look like, and what would their civilians look like. Males, females, children.
And later, if you'd like, we could take a look at a typical Jovean settlement. Their architecture.
