Okies, I do not know if this is prudent, but I was wondering if anyone would like to draw soem piccies of the Vaeloni, a race that I am currently working on. Any help would be much appreciated! I tried to turn my hand at a few concepts, but I was not too keen on the results, so here is the basic thread for their race! (I will be psoting pics of their vessels soon tho, as I do know how to do Graphis design for vahicles at a basic level ) kagemat.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=OtherRaces&action=display&thread=1095792553Thankyou in advance to any Happy Helpers ! sounds interesting . question. do they wear clothes/armour? if not then it might be a problem portraying the Vaelonie as the pictures might make them look like just a bunch of werewolve types or just dogs on their hind quarters?

They wear functional clothing such as robes to denote their social standings, or armour, which becoems increasingly more protective and ornate as rank increases (so an initiate will just have plates to cover the 'soft spots', whilst modern Vaeloni generals will have powered armour equivalents, although they are bigger, with symbols of devotion to their canine gods and foes they have found worthy). Peircings through the ears are common too, mainly in the religious types (which is almost the whole race). Other than this, all is well Ty for asking tho, I did not think to post that

;D could you post a rough sketch?... just to give me an idea?as it would be easier for me to get a better idea of how you percieve them? the trouble with descriptions are.... example.. it's an animal with four legs a short tail and a trunk or long type protrubance in front of it's head now i could end up drawing an elephant when in fact you meant an ant eater? ? can you see the problem? i'll gladly give it a go I.T. but i'd also like to get it as nearly right as possible a first time ;D cheers

Sorry I have taken months to get back on thsi one.... Been a really hard time revcently what with work etc, but i am back, and with a scanner. I have a crudely drawn head and shoulders profile of a Vaeloni Faesha (Primary) on the make, although it is in black monotones, but i hope that this will get the creativity going if anyone wants to jump onboard . Thanks for the patience

Looking good I am very impressed in fact That does seem to be the image I have in my mind for the Primaries, or Faesha Vaeloni. Working on clothing, but the description goes a bit like this: The average member of a Battle Pack will wear plates of impact resistant armour over all potentially fatal areas, such as the chest, groin and joints, as a protective measure. Although clothes are a part of Vaeloni society, they are not essential, and are mainly for use such as rank denotation or any number of protective uses. As such, the clothing of a line trooper will consist of these plates of armour, strapped to the various parts of the body for protection, and a utility belt/holster of some description to hold ammunition, grenades and ammunition for the firearm. They eschew the use of helmets, as not only are they hard to design for their physical dimensions, they are also stifling to their heightened senses.
Pack leaders and higher authorities will have decorative bands around their forearms, and will sometimes pull some of their longer fur (around the nape of the neck usually) into one or more scalplocks bound with symbols of their prowess. Scavenged battle gear is common among the higher ranking members, who have learned that the many races of the galaxy have better weapons than the Vaeloni for the most part.
Armour has little decoration, and units identify by scent and personal bonds with the other members of their batlle pack, so there is little requirement for unit marks unless acting as mercenary units for other races. Camoflage in the form of light dapples can be applied, by Vaeloni will usually stick with a base colour of earthy tones or dull greens to fit in with the terrain that they are most used to. This is the general clothing over view.... As i am good at drawing in animate objects, i will be doing a few weaponry and trinket pics, but i thank you again for that pic, it is definitely looking the way I thought it would Sokahr

I hate to interfere, but... those look amazingly like some Terran animals I know, and extremely like some anime cartoons I've seen... and like some werewolves I've seen, actually. Is there any chance you guys would be willing to make them look a bit more alien, and a bit less cartoonish?

Oh, he seems happy with them. It's just that I personally think they look exactly like a cross between a wolf and a human, which seems more appropriate for a beast in Warhammer fantasy, than an alien in Warhammer 40,000.
Just my humble opinion.
