Alright, I've done a scetch of ork reproduction a while back, but my skills with a pencil are nigh inexistant, so I need someone with some skill to make this pretty. Anyone?

How do you mean pretty, would you like shading or colour, what kind of end result were you looking for because as it stands it looks fine to me as an instructive diagram

Well, good question. I just want it to look like it was drawn by an Imperial illustrator of sorts, rather than being done in a couple of minutes by myself Maybe more detail and realism... I'm not sure though. I was kind of hoping that the artists would know what to do with it

Are you assuming that Orks emerge fully formed or as grots/snots?

They do not necessarily emerge as fully formed Orks. In fact, I believe I was working with the assumption that they emerge as "Ork-children", maybe 1.5-1.7 meters tall. They definitely do not emerge as squigs, snotlings or gretchin. These are seperate sub-species.
Besides, the image of these orks emerging from the ground in typical zombie-film style is just so appealing to me. And I seem to recall that the fluff describes them as emerging fully developed from the ground. And as a final argument, this makes sense if you consider that it takes less time for the other subspecies to develop, so you would first have the squigs appearing to create Orkoid fauna, and you would then have snotlings and gretchin to pave way for the Orkoid society, by starting to hunt squigs and cultivate fungus. And then, at last, you would have Orks appearing, ready to eat the food that the snots and grots have gathered, and start fighting.

Begs the question, where do the nutrients come from in a desert?
I don't see a problem with very young (hatchling) Orks being only the size of snotlings and pretty much indistinguishable from them at first, then growing into, and outgrowing, grots.

Begs the question, where do the nutrients come from in a desert? I believe you asked that question in the Ork forum, where the whole ork reproduction stage was discussed thoroughly, IIRC. And saying that orks emerge fully developed as opposed to in the form of under-developed snotlings isn't less likely at all. It just means that the nutrients that would have been needed to form a large group of snotlings is used to form a smaller group of orks. No problem except that the fluff tells us that they emerge fully developed. Again though, this is old grounds. We've been over this before. "Emerging Orkoids are almost at their most mature state, almost fully grown, much like a human adolescent." Codex Orks, page 47
