Perhaps Morin would fit with the iceworld in the first post? It's rich in minerals, but there is very little life on the planet. The population can be increased too, though we should preferably not deviate too far from the given statistics.

This thread was originally located on Portent and can be found at: Post apocalyptic Fallout rip-off. Ripped apart by war millennia ago, the world is a wasteland where humans struggle for survival every day. Though a few million citizens live in cities governed by the Imperium and the Adeptus Terra, many live outside of the Emperor’s light on this world, as it is too poor on resources to be worth rebuilding. Living in ramshackle cities put together with the scraps of lost civilisations, the majority of people on this world are building communities and nations of their own, forgotten and ignored by the Imperium of Men. In the wastelands feral tribes, raiders, mutants, and even orks wander, some fighting for survival, others for conquest. The people of this world do not know why they are doomed to such an existence, what events led to the past destruction of their world. To most, the Emperor is but a legend, a myth. It is a world where cities are built and razed overnight, where the forsaken servants of the Emperor defend their besieged shrines from marauders, and heroes die unsung. Again, keep in mind that I am open for discussion, so if you have any ideas for this subsector... cough it up. I've got some ideas for this world that might make for an interesting place to play in either the rpg or war game. Any stats on the planet or system to work from? What kind of star, how much water, ect.

;D Well, if you'd lifted your eyes a few millimeters, you would have seen this. What did you have in mind then? Btw, you can read these statlines (C4338 etc) if you download the Guide. Look in the World-building forum for that. The star is a cold one. I've learned a nice rule to remember how hot stars are. "Oh, Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me" The different stars are O B A F G K and M The hottest stars are O, the coldest are M

Sorry, I wasn't sure if that was describing another world or not, so I thought I'd ask. One thing that I was considering is perhaps having a couple of cities a little higher in the mountains that are bastions of technology. Making it more of a techno-feudalistic society.
As one comes down out of these mountain strongholds and off the large plateau, one descends into a thick miasma of fog and pollution that has settled into the lower elevations. At sea level, the air is a thick choking smog. In it are particulates of metal and other heavy substances that if inhaled without a rebreather accumulate on the lining of the lungs.
Far worse is the black rain that falls. The moisture of the atmosphere stings like battery acid. As it filters doown it erodes rock and structure further destroying what little survived the war.
Just out of curiosity when you say wet world and 80% are you saying that there are few land masses and alot of water or could there be large land masses that are bogs and marshes?

Sorry, I wasn't sure if that was describing another world or not, so I thought I'd ask. One thing that I was considering is perhaps having a couple of cities a little higher in the mountains that are bastions of technology. Making it more of a techno-feudalistic society. I was thinking more like anarchy on most parts of the world. There's no reason why a feudalistic society or even governments can be found in certain regions or continents. No one in the Imperium really gives a hoot anyway, so... This was not the image I had in mind for the planet, since I fell in love with the Fallout universe, with its scorched deserts and radioactive waste. Again though, it's a big world, so some regions could fit your description, and others mine. Worlds are rather big, after all, so they tend to have varying climates Far worse is the black rain that falls. The moisture of the atmosphere stings like battery acid. As it filters doown it erodes rock and structure further destroying what little survived the war. That would be a worldwide phenomenon, I suppose, but not too important in the regions I had in mind, since there wouldn't be much rain there at all Just out of curiosity when you say wet world and 80% are you saying that there are few land masses and alot of water or could there be large land masses that are bogs and marshes? I meant that it has 80% oceans and 20% land masses. The 'wet world' description comes from the guide.

Being 80% oceans, it might be interesting to have at one time had either floating cities or cities built on the sea shelf just off the coast. From the numbers the world look like it is going to be cold. Maybe you could have part of the oceans frozen, and have roving bands that live out on the ice.
the once underwater cities are now in enromous ice caverns. Once the top had frozen over, they pumped out the water around the domes of the city to prevent the continual freezing process from occuring around the domes. If it had frozen down to the domes, the ice might have been strong enough to crack them lie and egg shell.
The cities are not advanced, but they might have some small level of technology. I picture the ice being a constant problem, as it continually tries to encroach on the domes, maybe they keep the ice at bay by having special "burner" units equiped with either flame throwers or other heat based weapons to beat back the ice.
I also envision large water pipes that use to run from the sea inland to other cities, maybe on the planets on large continent. The machinery to pump the water through this aquaduct stoped working long ago. The residents of the city however use it as a secure road way in and out of the city.
The aquaduct is broken about a mile inland, but a fortress has been built at that end to protect the road into the city. how does that sound?

Being 80% oceans, it might be interesting to have at one time had either floating cities or cities built on the sea shelf just off the coast. Hmm, why would there be floating cities, do you think? It's a wet world, yes, but that doesn't mean that it would be reasonable to build expensive floating cities. From the numbers the world look like it is going to be cold. Maybe you could have part of the oceans frozen, and have roving bands that live out on the ice. I expect there to be roving bands pretty much everywhere on this world, but yes Of course, we'll need to explain what they're doing on the ice. It's hard to make a living out of ice and air. the once underwater cities are now in enromous ice caverns. Once the top had frozen over, they pumped out the water around the domes of the city to prevent the continual freezing process from occuring around the domes. If it had frozen down to the domes, the ice might have been strong enough to crack them lie and egg shell. I don't quite understand. These underwater cities, (their presence yet to be explained btw) are normal cities built at the ocean floor, protected by huge heated domes? These domes are there to prevent the ice from cracking the city's buildings open, and keep the surrounding water liquid? The cities are not advanced, but they might have some small level of technology. I picture the ice being a constant problem, as it continually tries to encroach on the domes, maybe they keep the ice at bay by having special "burner" units equiped with either flame throwers or other heat based weapons to beat back the ice. Why not just use electrical heating? I also envision large water pipes that use to run from the sea inland to other cities, maybe on the planets on large continent. The machinery to pump the water through this aquaduct stoped working long ago. The residents of the city however use it as a secure road way in and out of the city. That sounds suitably fallout-y. Cool ;D The aquaduct is broken about a mile inland, but a fortress has been built at that end to protect the road into the city. how does that sound? It sounds just like the thing I had in mind. And of course, there would be several aquaducts, since world was once densely populated. Most of them serve simply as highways now, but some still function, and are the basis of large cities or city states. At this point, I think a seperate thread should be started if this planet is to be developed further. To me, it looks like it has a lot of potential.

Alright. I've created a new thread accessable here in which we can discuss this world. BTW any thoughts on a name?

Is the iceworld mentioned in the first post already taken? If it's not, I think I could start working on it. After all, I'm from Finland, so I oughta know a thing or two about ice and snow...

An iceworld with a frozen lakes and oceans and a peaceful and quiet people? Well, that seems perfect for someone from Finland, yeah Throw in some high percentage booze and we might as well call the world Suomia or something ;D (Sorry if I've offended you now.. ) Do you have a concept beyond that which is suggested in the first post, perhaps? There was mention of a possible genestealer cult on this world once upon a time... what did you have in mind though?

Throw in some high percentage booze and we might as well call the world Suomia or something ;D (Sorry if I've offended you now.. ) Far from it. You made me laugh out loud. Thanks. Genestealer cult sounds nice. It should make things a bit more interesting. As for my own ideas, I should probably tell them later. It's 4am in the morning here, and I can barely keep my eyes open. I'll get back to you tommorow, okay? Bedtime for me now.

Fair enough. I look forward to seeing your concept, preferably in a seperate thread in this forum. Sweet dreams

Ok, I've just realized something, from looking at the resource values at the different worlds. Salinas is extremely rich with resources, and is probably running over with all kinds of lovely minerals. It is considered 'Extremely rich', and is probably very important sector-wide. Archaios is 'rich', and has a considerable wealth of resources.
To my dismay, Sistina is very resource-rich. So much for the idea that this planet is not worth recolonising. We'll have to think of something smart, Destecado.
Both Altarra and Modestus have very low resource values, which means that their industry has to import a lot of materials from Archaios and especially Salinas. Elina is also obviously important to Altarra and Modestus, being a dedicated mining world.

Could you not just find a less rich world with a similar UWP and make that sistina
