I've been thinking... why do all you members work on the ASP? What motivates you to struggle for hours with UWPs, descriptions of government and law, ancient 40k history and what not?
For me, it's mostly for fiction. Wargaming is a bonus, but I don't really need to construct a sector in detail to run a BFG campaign. I hope that I'll be able to try roleplaying in the Anargo sector one day, but that's not really an immediate goal, since I don't do roleplaying. When I watch a good movie, or play a cool computer game, or listen to good movie, I always get inspired to recreate something similar in the 40k universe. This often leads to obvious rip-offs (like Sistina), but can sometimes lead to something interesting. And of course, 40k is all about rip-offs.
Darnit, I'm rambling! My point is...
What are you really here for? It's not to mess around with UWPs and all that stuff. Most of us tend to find that as a necessary evil at best. Well, why not start doing the stuff you're here for right now?
The Anargo sector isn't complete. Far from it. But why struggle through a lot of stuff that we may find boring (or at least not really great) when we can start doing the fun stuff already?
If you love writing wargame-orientated fiction, why not do that once in a while? I love doing stuff like writing about Space Marine chapters, Imperial Guard regiments, crusades, big wars, and so on. I think a lot of people like doing that, because whenever you look for amateur 40k fiction on the web, you always end up reading about some person's homemade space marine chapter, imperial guard regiment, chaos warband (and especially chaos champion), and so on.
Just a thought. Maybe you all like to only work on UWPs and SRs. It just seems to be wearing some people down.

I like working up designs for all 40K tech, so posting on Anargo seemed a natural thing to do.

I really enjoy the Universe that GW have created (borrowed?) and love the expansion of it through the multiple means that have been devised.
ASP is a great place to chat with all you guys about how it should really be represented.
Yeah got lots of ideas but have a problem getting them out of my head and down on the forums! I get bored quickly when writing for a long time:(

Contrary to cels popular belief I love the UWP part, I like generating worlds and systems and populating the galaxy with them. I can't say I enjoy the politics and religion i find them soul destroying, but creating worlds in 40k is quite rewarding. The ASP allowed me to wallow in that more so than any other forum so...

LoL! Note, Dazo, that I said 'most people'. Yes, I know you're different. By the way, I find that creating a world without politics is a bit... meaningless. Like a human without desires and urges.. Philip, if you like working up designs for 40k tech, then why don't you do more of that? Do you really need to answer your questions about robots, STC and warp travel to design a bolter? Or are there just some areas of 40k tech that interest you? Malika and Tynesh, you are interested in creating ideas? What kind of ideas? Just for world-building, or more than that? Anyway, I just thought I'd encourage people to do other things than world-building, if that helps their motivation. I know it does for me, when my creativity has dried up.

Why I post here? I guess I’m not just quite adult in mind, thus I keep toying with fictional universe instead of working even harder as a true grown up man has to do Especially considering that I don’t play wargame for years… and don’t have an army I was at the very source of the project, I just like to talk on some not really serious things and even argue about them – nonsense, if you bear in mind that this is just a back story for lead solders. All other forums I know have died out, replaced with my uber-good SM Chapter that fights for peace… Pardon for mad rumblings…. I’m here because I like the fluff and I think that I’m able and willing to improve it.

Other stuff too, also ideas for fiction, however it stays as a concept in my head since I have no idea how to express it. If only I had better drawing skills I think sometimes And writing very long stories/articles isnt my thing either since Im not patient enough, I should be practising it though

Right now, I'm little more than a glorified lurker. ;D
But I've gone through stages. I came first for the wargaming, my single shameless intent being someplace to find people for testing my original draft of the Atlantean armylist. Then I started shifting over to fleshing out the race itself, for a long time. Eventually, I answered the call for more Imperial worlds and less alien races, and started Karnak. There I am stuck.
So, at heart I'm here to eventually complete the Atlanteans, they're my baby. Aside from that, it's just neat to be part of something like this.
So much for my lurker status.

Ideas...
I just love the concept of adding order and a structure to ideas that have been created by others. I relly would like to fluff out the Ordos Anargo Inquisition etc, and the role of the Lord Militant Protector. Not so much with story telling per se, but maybe just writings on the topics. It just needs a good chat with other members, etc.
PS the only real reason I have remained here is to watch Malika's avatar - such a gem, a wierd wrestler jumping from behind a bush onto a little toddler!

I love the 'fluff'... I love writing... and I love fixing things. All of them get sorted out here! Seriously, though, the project was initially started as a means of stimulating discussion on Portent. At the time discussion had dwindled down to almost nothing so I came up with the concept of the ASP to reinspire people. Given the fact that, as a roleplayer, my interest primarily lay in the 'fluff' and since it had so much to offer the 40k universe in structuring it, I laid down the premise of using the 'ole MT "Guide", etc. as a means of allowing the consistent production of worlds. Overall, I think that it has worked quite well. The structure of the project means that we have to go two steps forwards, one step back (sometimes two or three), but overall it is unavoidable in what is essentially a 'test case'. As one always does, with hindsight one can see how the project coud have been done in one way or the other to speed up its completion... But overall, I think the journey has, and continues to be, more important. Now? With the hard work that we have all put into the project? I'm guessing that it would be fairly easy to knock up a sector in short order! Although it sometimes seems different, I'm rather grateful for the site and the project members! With that said, I'm going back to temporary lurking... Kage

Too many Idea in my head; need to vent them ;D For me its mostly about the wargame, which brought me here in the first place. Being apart of the project has helped me to realise some of that I wanted to do concerning the fantastic universe that GW plagiarised from some of the best sci-fi and fantasy out there. I have got to work on the campaign aspect, which I have been trying to do something about for the past seven odd years. I have also got to create a new species (still slightly unfinished like most of my work), and a few worlds. For me most of its a treat, since it allows me chance to have some fun and get reinspirsed for the other big projects I am working on. Most of which strangely enough involves some of things I am doing here – except that it does not give me as many headaches. Seriously; I know how Kage feels when he feels like he is moving two steps back. But hey, I am not the boss here, so I get to sit back and enjoy the ride .

Philip, if you like working up designs for 40k tech, then why don't you do more of that? I do. Do you really need to answer your questions about robots, STC and warp travel to design a bolter? Not for the Bolter itself, but I did need it for bolter-ammo and Plasma-Weapons. I needed a basic idea of how wrap-engines function before I could design one, or the inner workings of the STC before braking out my architect side and working out colony structures. I even needed to work out technology/ communication levels/ economics/ infrastructure and so on, in order for the distribution of habs to follow a logical layout. It may all seem unrelated, but once you know what you are designing, its parameters and how it will be used, it is so much easier to then design it. Or are there just some areas of 40k tech that interest you? I’m interested in all 40K tech.

Good, good The point of my post was to encourage people to do a bit more of the stuff that really interests them. Their favourite part. I want Glyphstone to work more on his Atlanteans, I want Tynesh to work more on the Inquisition (I could use the help), and I want Kage to work more on the Eldar, if that's what you really want to be doing. The idea is that by working on our favourite areas, we will get more motivation to help out in other areas of the project Right now, I have the feeling that people are checking out the forum from time to time, wanting to contribute, but zapped of motivation because they are forced to finish the dreaded SRs. I know it's like that for me sometimes. Just look at how long Nova Cerkes and Proteus have been almost finished Well, it was just an idea. LoL! Too true... PS: I love your avatar too, Malika. Especially since I've just bought a super nintendo with street fighter 2 turbo, and have gotten my ass kicked one too many times by that russian brute... I don't know how I ever managed to play that game when I was a kid..
