Okay, I'm in the midst of doing a very brief preliminary copy of the "GURPS Rogue Trader" which as the name indicates is a RPG supplement (fan supplement and 'Net-based) for GURPS. The aim of the sourcebook is to consistently expand the 40k universe away from its wargaming origins into a more mature1 universe that is appealing to non-wargamers. The very start of this process is describing the various aspects of the universe...
Note 1: The use of the word 'mature' here is a reference to the general consistency and development of the universe, not a reference to the ages of any of the people who play or are otherwise involved in the Warhammer 40,000 game universe!
The general structure of the sourcebook is to provide general, racial non-specific information first and foremost and then describe the various races themselves. Thus at the moment you have:
But that's by means of general explanation and background. What I'm actually interested in here is the third section on the Warp. The point of the thread can be basically summarised by the following question:
To structure the argument, perhaps interested people could construct a section 'table of contents'. For example, at the moment there is currently (in the file on my computer!):
Section 3
Section 3.1 - On the Nature and Structure of the Warp
Obviously this does not refer to any aspect of psykers (section 3.2) or warp travel in its various forms (section 3.3). Chaos is, however, a part of section 3.1, but how would you break it down into sub-headings/sections and what are the features that you would definitely try and bring across...
;D

- Section 1: Introduction.
- Section 2: New Advantages and Disadvantages.
- Section 3: The Warp, Psykers and Warp Travel.
- Section 4: A Timeline of the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
- Section 5: The Imperium of Mankind.
- Section 6: The Eldar... etc.
But that's by means of general explanation and background. What I'm actually interested in here is the third section on the Warp. The point of the thread can be basically summarised by the following question:
What are the most important features to be drawn out about the warp?

Section 3
Section 3.1 - On the Nature and Structure of the Warp
- 3.1.1 - General Introduction, introduction the various 'levels' of the warp and the matterium (subconsensual and consensual reality, respectively).
- 3.1.2 - Matterium. A description of consensual reality, its predication upon physical laws, etc.
- 3.1.3 - Astral or Etheric Space. The close 'mirror' of reality, as described in many fantasy games and alluded at in some of the 'fluff'.
- 3.1.4 - Lower Manifold.
- 3.1.5 - Boundary or Torison Space. Where 'warp travel' happens.
- 3.1.6 - Upper Manifold.
- 3.1.7 - The Otherworls or the Realms of Chaos. Subconsensual reality.
Obviously this does not refer to any aspect of psykers (section 3.2) or warp travel in its various forms (section 3.3). Chaos is, however, a part of section 3.1, but how would you break it down into sub-headings/sections and what are the features that you would definitely try and bring across...
