Here's the standardised representation of Tryphon, my latest world, and last world for a while now Any comments and questions are welcome, since you'll see that this representation isn't finished yet (see Religion and Language), and especially on my English, which I fear is slightly off here and there. Hope you like it. Btw, Tryphon is named after a Catholic saint. This world was formerly known as Aquina or Algorex III on the forum, but I decided we had too many names in the Anargo sector starting with A, so... I'm not 100% happy with it though (Tryphonians sounds a bit weird), but I will keep it unless someone has a better suggestion. STANDARD REPRESENTATION
50,23,41 - M-V - C8459AE-8 S Hi 903 IM 48M
(Note: Tech-level changed from 8 to 9)Planet name: Tryphon World class: Civilised world Population: 9,280,000,000 Tech level: A (High common Imperial technology) Tithe Grade: Exactis Tertius Aestimare: C5 Orbital distance: 0.2 AU Equatorial diameter: 13,100 km Gravity: 0.92 g Orbital period: 48 days Length of day: 19.3 hours Atmosphere: Thin, High Oxygen Surface atmospheric pressure: 0.6 Surface temperature: 22.2 degrees celsius Hydrosphere: 54% Life forms: Native complex microscopic life. Terraforming in temperate regions. Moons: 0 Planet descriptionThe civilized world Tryphon is the youngest world in the Anargo subsector, and is governed by an Ecclessiarchy priesthood. The planet isn’t quite cold enough to be categorized as an ice world, though most of its lands are covered with ice and snow around the year. The Tryphonian cities are filled with glorious Terran architecture, gigantic gothic buildings with menacing gargoyles and the judging faces of saints looking down at the pedestrians far below. In the colder regions of Tryphon, these cities bear the look of necropolises, their streets largely empty as the citizens avoid the freezing snow storms outside. Along the equator though, where the climate is quite warm and citizens can venture outside with minimal clothing, the gothic Tryphonian cities are surrounded by thick forests with some of the older buildings hugged by thick flower bearing ivy, creating a strange contrast between the sinister Imperial architecture and the lovely terran flora. Modified to have the correct UWP!

Government Tryphon’s government is very special in that it is the Ecclessiarchy which governs the planet. Though the planet is typical in that it still has an Imperial Commander and pays tithes like any other Imperial world, the Ecclessiarchy’s supreme position on the planet creates a quite unique situation. The government on Tryphon is known as the Priesthood of Tryphon, or simply the Priesthood, and is under direct control of the Ecclessiarchy, the Adeptus Ministorum. The world’s Imperial Commander holds the title of Pontifex Mundi Tryphon in the Ecclessiarchy, and is the highest ranking member of the Tryphonian Priesthood.
The Priesthood of Tryphon is the legislative, judicial and executive power of Tryphon, giving the preachers, priests and confessors of Tryphon tremendous power, as they have authority over the Tryphonian law enforcers and the planetary defense force. It is organized in a strict hierarchy, with no area of responsibility divided between several positions, such as the councils common on other worlds.
At the lowest level, the world is divided into thousands of parishes, each with its own single shrine. The size of each parish varies with the population, so the largest cities will have dozens of shrines, whilst entire island groups might only have a single shrine between them. Each parish is governed by a Preacher, who is both responsible for attending the shrine and governing his parish in political matters. The parishes of Tryphon form communes, varying in size from dozens to over a hundred parishes. These communes, numbering roughly a hundred, are governed by a Pontifex. In turn, these communes form regions, of which there are twenty four on Tryphon. Each region is governed by a Pontifex Regio, the subordinates of the Pontifex Mundi of Tryphon himself. Of course, the Priesthood of Tryphon also includes other members of the Ecclessiarchy, Missionaries, Confessors, other Pontifexes with special duties, such as the Pontifex Astra who guard the faith on PDF orbital defences or the Tryphonian trade vessels, and various other members with administrative positions. Religion The Priesthood of Tryphon was originally founded by the Cardinal of Dorvastor, several millennia ago. Since its founding, the Priesthood has enjoyed close relations to the Adeptus Ministorum on Dorvastor, and as a result, Tryphon’s religious traditions are nigh identical to those of Dorvastor. (Not much more to say at the moment, since I don’t know what the religious traditions of Dorvastor are) Society and Law The citizens of Tryphon have long known to be solitarian and monolithic since the planet was originally brought into the Imperium’s fold. The division between higher and lower classes has always been minimal, both socially and economically, but in the last few centuries, a series of events have begun to increase this division. Several radical sects have formed, such as the death-cult Daughters of Uriel, and political separatist groups such as the New Order, a military group who want to see the military forces of Tryphon replacing the government of the Priesthood, and the Tryphonian People’s Front, who fight for democracy and a government formed by leading civilians instead of members of the Ministorum. After millennia of relative peace and harmony on Tryphon, riots and small rebellions are happening more often for each passing year. The high law level that has protected the population from criminals for ages is now sending millions to prison or death every year.
Though the citizens of Tryphon are relatively poor for such a prosperous world, with the majority of the population not owning their own bath, cooking equipment or transport, the government has built many publics baths, cantinas or funded restaurants, and an extensive public transportation network. So while the Tryphonians usually have very little property, they still enjoy much of the same luxuries as other prosperous civilized worlds.
The typical Tryphonian family lives in an apartment with five or six small rooms with simple furniture and religious decorations. Unlike most Imperial worlds though, the wealthiest and most respected members do not live in great and luxurious housing. Instead, they are invited to live in Priesthood monasteries with their family. Again, the wealthy actually have very little property, but are given many luxuries through living in the Priesthood monasteries. Because of this, and because Tryphonians are very religious and devoted to the Ecclessiarchy, it is considered a great honour to be invited to live in the monasteries.

Technology Tryphon has an average high level of technology for a civilized Imperial world, though some regions are restricted by their misgivings towards technology such as servitors and so-called machine spirits. As a result, communication and cogitator (computer) technology is considerably lower on Tryphon than other high tech Imperial worlds. Tryphon has a high technology level on other areas though. The Adeptus Mechanicus has provided the planet with a high energy, military and medical technology, as well as Standard Template Construct vehicles for the planet’s extensive transportation system. Long-range cruiser jet aircrafts, fusion-powered ferries and trains are all common features of the world’s collective transportation system. Though the citizens of Tryphon own precious little high tech equipment, with only the richest owning their own holo-vid projectors, cogitators or even washing machines, such things are provided by the government. Trade and TithesTryphon has the highest tithe grade allowed for Imperial worlds save industrial worlds, hive worlds and some agri-worlds, as it is considered a very prosperous world. The world exports agro-products, consumables, a range of industrial goods and much fine art, and its goods are known throughout the sector and beyond. In addition, Tryphon pays its tithes partly in form of regiments for the Imperial Guard. Since most of Tryphon is extremely cold most of the year, the Tryphonian Imperial Guard regiments are often used in cold climates, where they have much expertise. Of course, Tryphon has import and export beyond its tithes to the Imperium. Most of Tryphonian interstellar trade is conducted through the Tryphonian government however, which has a monopoly on many of the world’s major industries. Trade on Tryphon itself is privatized to a certain degree. The government owns the lands used for farming, for example, and has a virtual monopoly on iron ore, which is imported, but agri-processing plants and factories are owned by private companies. PhysiologyThe citizens of Tryphon are of normal build, if a bit taller than the average Imperial citizen, due to the slightly low gravity. Since most of planet is too cold for humans to venture outside most of the year, many of the Tryphonians are rather pale, compared to those who live in more temperate regions and have a more golden skin colour. The citizens of Tryphon do not have a specific prevalent eye colour, but the red hair colour is considerably more common on Tryphon than other Imperial worlds, though still far from prevalent. PsychologyMost, if not all Tryphonians are deeply religious. To serve and honour the Emperor is most important of all, and Tryphonians are often unselfish and brave people. Because of this devotion, they easily judge other people who do not conform to their high demands in matters of faith. Self-inflicted pain is common amongst Tryphonians, as they punish themselves for their sins against the God-Emperor. The type of damage inflicted and the targeted areas of the body depend on the level of guilt and cultural differences on Tryphon, but the use of whips, serrated daggers and barbed wire is common, usually on chest, arms, hands and back. As a result, especially religious people from Tryphon can usually be marked out by many scars, both fresh and old. Some Tryphonians are notoriously mistrusting of technology, and especially automated machinery, servitors and the so-called machine spirits of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and are usually easy to spot on other worlds, making the sign of the aquila whenever encountering such high technology, or even spitting at servitors. Language and DialectAll the citizens of Tryphon have Low Gothic as their native tongue, and any citizen with more than a basic education is fluent in High Gothic as well. The Tryphonian dialect is typically barely noticeable, but is… similar to that of New Zealand. Could someone help me explain this without using a real-world example? Tight-lipped, maybe?

Planetary Defense Force The Tryphonian Planetary Defense Force is an ancient and well-funded military organization with rich tradition. Originally formed from many of the Imperial Guard regiments that liberated Tryphon millennia ago, the PDF is the only worldwide organization subordinate to the Priesthood that has not been founded by the Ecclessiarchy. Though the PDF is highly devoted to the Ecclessiarchy, its origins in the Imperial Guard have led to a certain distance between the PDF and the Ecclessiarchy, and even animosity in some cases. This distance has become especially visible in the later years, when the PDF has been called upon by the Priesthood to stop quell rebellions and even stop riots, something that does not sit right with the PDF officers, who lament using deadly force against the people they are intended to protect. Typically, some members of the Priesthood will characterize PDF soldiers as weak-hearted and short-sighted, while the PDF characterize some members of the Priesthood as cruel and heartless. Despite this occasional animosity, the Tryphonian PDF still receives much funding from the Priesthood, and is a relatively well-equipped force.
The Tryphonian PDF is divided into the Tryphonian United Armies, the world’s Orbital Defense Force, and the Tryphonian Aerial Armada. The United Armies consists of twenty-four different regional armies, each answering to a PDF General. These armies are equipped almost to the standard of the Imperial Guard, with the exception of energy weapons which are extremely rare. The United Armies do not use the STC vehicles of the Imperial Guard, such as the Leman Russ and Chimera, but instead use vehicles that are unique to specific regions, or a small handful of regions. The Aerial Armada on the other hand, does use STC machines, such as the Marauder bombers, but these are also without the energy weapons that are common in the Imperial Navy and on other worlds.
History The world Tryphon was not included in the Anargo sub-sector for several millennia after the Great Crusade. Originally named Isvik Prime, this world remained undiscovered until an Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator vessel searching for potential agri-worlds came across the Isvik system. When the Adeptus Mechanicus reported that this world held a human civilization, the Imperium quickly sent an armed force escorting Imperial diplomats and missionaries to peacefully bring Isvik Prime into the fold of the Emperor. Unfortunately, the population of Isvik Prime was stubborn and proud people, refusing to submit to the authority of the Imperium, and worse still, unwilling to acknowledge the divinity of the Emperor instead of their heathen god of their own invention. After only days of discussion, the rulers of Isvik Prime decided they would show the Imperium that they meant business by ignoring the cease-fire, slaughtering the Imperial representatives and sending their fleet to destroy the Imperial ships in orbit. Only two of six Imperial ships returned to the Anargo system.
The survivors that returned to Anargo told of the betrayal on Isvik Prime, of the heathen god, and reported that none of the missionaries from the Ecclessiarchy had survived. Outraged, the Cardinal world Dorvastor raised several hundred Imperial Guard regiments in less than a year’s time, as well as a new missionary force escorted by the Adepta Sororitas. Together with other Imperial Guard regiments from the entire sector and the Imperial Navy, this force smashed through the defenses of Isvik Prime and conquered the planet in the name of the Emperor in a short and brutal war with heavy casualties on both sides. As the leading members of the old government had been executed for their crimes against the Imperium, the Mission sent by Dorvastor immediately begun assessing and rebuilding the planet, renaming it Tryphon after the current Cardinal Tryphons of Dorvastor. Since the Ecclessiarchy of Dorvastor had sent so many missionaries that were in process of rebuilding the world before the Imperium had been able to send other organizations to form a new government from the world’s own government, it was decided that the Ecclessiarchy would form a government from the Mission on Tryphon. It was decided that this government would have the same responsibilities and duties as the governments of other worlds, and would pay tithes to the Imperium and cooperate with the Adeptus Administratum as normal.
The Ecclessiarchy government, named the Priesthood of Tryphon, quickly turned the Tryphonian population into loyal subjects of the Imperium and faithful servants of the Emperor, using deadly force and strict laws to quickly get the population in shape. After only a few centuries, Tryphon was made a peaceful Imperial world, prosperous and promising. Since Tryphon was made an Imperial world, it has had an unproblematic and proud history, and developed close bonds with both Anargo and Dorvastor.

I'm worried about the 'trend' (okay, two worlds) of giving complete control of a system/world to a single Imperial organisation. It undermines the 'average' situation, for me, which is with the adeptus terra as a parasitic organisation. With that said, I'm quite intrigued by the world and my initial impression is favourable. I'm worried about the 'trend' (okay, two worlds) of giving complete control of a system/world to a single Imperial organisation. It undermines the 'average' situation, for me, which is with the adeptus terra as a parasitic organisation. That's why I used words such as 'special' and 'unique' when describing the government, to emphasize that this far from average. And like you say, it's only two worlds. The Anargo sector will have maybe 40-50 worlds, so I think we're good. I promise not to create more exceptions to the 'average situation' from now on With that said, I'm quite intrigued by the world and my initial impression is favourable. Comments and questions will follow but, as usual, quality work there CELS. I'll hold off celebrating untill you've had a proper read

Nice, very nice.
One concern I have is that if the PDF and Preisthood are antagonised, why are they still permitted such power.
I'd also like to know how widespread the various anti-priesthood groups are. The original 'theory' was that the planet was on the edge of collapse. From the current discription you dont really get that idea.

Many thanks ;D One concern I have is that if the PDF and Preisthood are antagonised, why are they still permitted such power. Why are who permitted such power? And by whom? If you're asking why the PDF and the Priesthood are permitted such power by the Imperium, my answer would be that they're still paying their tithes. As long as the planet contributes to the good of the Imperium, the Lord Governor of Anargo doesn't care how its done. If you're asking why the people haven't rebelled yet... well, many of them are torn. The government has its flaws, but the people of Tryphon have a long history of loyalty to their government and to the Emperor. Many of them are afraid that they are betraying the Emperor by rebelling, something that the Priesthood is not shy to play upon. I'd also like to know how widespread the various anti-priesthood groups are. The original 'theory' was that the planet was on the edge of collapse. From the current discription you dont really get that idea. That's a good point. It has become rather harmonious compared to my original idea. Must be the peaceful nature in me I'll consider rewriting it so that in 999M41 (or whatever year we choose as present), the world is on the verge of global rebellion, something which has built up over the last few decades. A mere century ago though, these anti-priesthood groups would have very little support from the general populace. I don't want the world to be in anarchy though, and I don't want any large battles between rebels and loyal PDF to take place. It'll be more like the current tragedy down in Israel. Its far from peaceful, but its not quite a civil war either. Not by my definition anyways.

Ah, right. Well, the animosity between the PDF and Priesthood isn't quite so bad that the Priesthood needs to take action. If and when the PDF openly refuses the authority of the Priesthood, the world will probably collapse with riots, rebellions and civil war.
Right now, there are PDF officers contemplating turning rebel, some have already disappeared, but the PDF are still doing the will of the Priesthood, quelling rebellions and riots when the local Enforces do not have the power themselves.
I suppose there may have been a few incidents of refusing orders though... but it's still so rare that each incident is shocking news.

Remembering that we're using TTL from the Guide here, I'd say drop your TL down to an A (10) or even (maybe not) 9. These all remain with the GTL <10 (where GTL 10 = adeptus mechanicus technological limits in terms of manufacturing). I'm also not overtly keen on the statement "...the adeptus mechanicus has provided Tryphon with...". Are you suggesting that Trypon produces nothing itself? Other than that the world has grown on me providing a nice little counter-point to the heretically 'agnostic' Anargans... One thing that you know you should do, now, is to include descriptions of the other worlds in the Tryphon system. The description only has to be brief, a very small 'Description' (i.e. the 'standard representation') with details as indicated in the Anargo SR... Kage

I suggest that only the Adeptus Mechanicus is capable of producing items of high technology. Is that a problem? ;D Actually, Tryphon would probably produce most of the machines themselves, but the Adeptus Mechanicus provides the knowledge (no, not all the knowledge). And machines such as plasma reactors aren't built on every world in the Imperium, so I figure they got those from Proteus. Yep! It could turn into some very interesting animosity Will do.

Yes. I suggest that only the Adeptus Mechanicus is capable of producing items of high technology. Is that a problem? ;D Depends on th technology itself. Just the sentence itself implied itself at the time of reading to suggest that all technology was derivative of the adeptus mechanicus. Which obviously would be a flawed statement. And machines such as plasma reactors aren't built on every world in the Imperium, so I figure they got those from Proteus. If the world is as 'high tech' as you suggest, then there is no real reason that they shouldn't be able to build their own... Kage

Fascinating concept, I must say... 'Day After Tomorrow' for imagery I think They seem quite Grecian in their social structure, at least partially. What I'm getting is a combination of Ancient Greece, 20's London and Tzarist Russia, as well as the almost unique Imperial style that seems to be slowly generating around here. Given the climate, do they have weather difficulties? How do they overcome them? (By the way - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have steam locomotives!)
