That's a lot of green Perhaps you have some concepts for the different worlds, that may inspire people to start building? Failing that, maybe just an overall image of how you want the subsector to be, so people know if you want hiveworlds or forgeworlds, and how many. And maybe edit the name of this thread, so new members can more easily understand that this is where the planets are

That's a lot of green Perhaps you have some concepts for the different worlds, that may inspire people to start building? Failing that, maybe just an overall image of how you want the subsector to be, so people know if you want hiveworlds or forgeworlds, and how many. I am still in the process of migrating information into this new subsector format. There are several systems that are already in production (such as Dakar), but which need to find a home in the new format. I will also give people a better idea of what worlds would work best in the Subsector, but first we need to formalize the history of the Subsector. I am currently working on fleshing out the Mezzan and other cultures that existed in the Subsector prior to the Great Crusade. If we can build a time table frm the Great Crusade at least up through the Age of Apostasy, we will have a better idea of what type of worlds would best fit the Subsector. The time Line will also give contributors a guide to shape the history and developement of their individual systems in the Subsector.

Grrrr.... kicking the ball over to my side, are you? Yeah, I know I've been saying I'd do the timeline for a while now. Well, looks like I'll be doing the Adeptus Mechanicus article much later then. That is, unless you're willing to try to make the timeline yourself. I'd be happy to help ;D

Why are all these worlds Imperial? Why no Chaos held world (that Iron Warriors fortress perhaps?) Or Ork worlds?

Why are all these worlds Imperial? Why no Chaos held world (that Iron Warriors fortress perhaps?) Or Ork worlds? The UWPs for the Sargassos Subsector are presented as they were generated. While there may be other worlds out there that are not under Imperial rule, that would need to be discussed with Kage. I was waiting till after he had finished the paper for his Phd before bringing it up. If no additional worlds are to be aded (that are outside of Imperial control) and the affiliation of worlds can not be changed, there are always the rogue planets. These worlds are not listed as being under the control of the Imperium. p.s. I do hope to find a home within the Sargassos Subsector for the iron warriors fortress. I think it would make for an interesting addition to the ASP.

IIRC the Sargassos sub-sector was going to have lots of stuff right? Like the Willy Ork Empire and Iron Warriors world, or is the Ork Empire going to be outside the sub-sector?

The Ork empire is outside the Sargassos subsector. Imagine the cube that is the Anargo sector. In the very corner of the Anargo sector, there is a small cluster that is the ork empire. Further from the corner, there are contested worlds that are not strictly in Imperial control. Even further from the corner, you have the Sargassos sub.
There's a map on the forum somewhere, that shows the entire Anargo sector, including the Ork empire, I think. It was made by Kage.
Which means, basically, it sucks as everything other than a representation. A temporary one at that. Hence the names of the various threads. Would be really great if we could get some to 'artify' these, but it doesn't seem likely at the moment.

Based on the discussions that have been going on in several of the threads, I have given further thought to how some of the worlds might perhaps be developed.
ARCHAELOGICAL DIGS
Developing the history of the Sargassos Subsector has shown it to be the site of several wars to as far back as the Great Crusade. In that time the populations of several worlds have been wiped out, while artifacts of their culture have remained behind.
There are several worlds within the subsector that show a population of no more than ten people. This population marker of course only represents permanent occupation. It does not include transitent populations such as visitors or perhaps exploratory expiditions. It also does not include such things as servitors or robots.
It may be interesting to have Adeptus Mechanicus survey teams rooting around in the remains of old Mezzan worlds looking for technological wonders that may have survived....which could be alot if the world was virus bombed rather than orbitally bombarded.
This could open up interesting story lines for rogue traders or others trying to sneak onto the planet in order to sift through wreckage of the civilization to find something to steal or sell.
Examples:
25,41,46 - M-V - X638000-0 Ba Lo 003 Im 050
25,41,48 - M-V - X313000-0 Ba Ic Lo 020 Im 030
25,45,47 - M-V - X200000-0 Ba Lo Va 013 Im 000
SENTRY WORLDS
One of the concepts that came out when we began fleshing out the history of the Sargassos subsector is the possibility of depots left behind in the subsector. These were facilitis to house arms and equipment if ever there was a need to rapidly mobilize a large number of Imperial Guard units within the subsector.
Again depots might be placed in areas that were considered of strategic importance. or that were close to worlds with large populations. These worlds might fall under the control of the Adeptus Mechanicus who maintained the equipment.
Again these low population worlds do not take into account such things as servitors or robots, so the population value could be very misleading.
Sentry worlds need not only serve as mustering points. Several of the systems have extstensive planetoid belt systems and gas giants. It is possible that a population might be placed on a large planetoid in the belt system or on a moon of a gas giant.
EXAMPLES:
26,42,45 - M-V - C300113-B Lo Va 523 Im 030
The populations of this planet numbers little more than 100, yet its tech level is given as allowing large space ships. It may be that the fabrication plants and mining facilities lie within the systems two planetoid belts. The scientists and technicians may reside on the planet.
It may be that this world is not controled by the Adeptus Mechanicus at all and is instead a private firm sub-contracted by the Adeptus Mechanicus or the Imperium to build civilian ships.
25,41,48 - M-V - X313000-0 Ba Ic Lo 020 Im 030
Again, there are a couple of planetoid belts that could perhaps be exploited in this system.

Please be aware that there are some major events within the subsector that may shape the history of your Hive World. I've been working on a more indepth examination of the Mezzan and the Great Crusade (which has been delayed by my illness). I will try to post this information as soon as possible. In the mean time do you have an idea of what you wished to do with the Hive World?

Some idea yes, but by no means a concrete concept, I want it to be different to the proto hive I plan to do in Meksum, but in order for that I would need a bit more info on the vibe/atmosphere of sargassos itself, also any ideas you might like to see in a hive world from this subsector. But there's no rush at the moment for that as I have enough to be going on with in other subs.
Flu sucks, hope you feel better soon

It was always intended though to be a subsector that is view as cursed by your average Imperial citizen. While the sargassos subsector has seen some high points (the original capital of the sector was in this subsector) it has also been home to several wars through its long history. Intense fighting between the (then) loyal Alpha Legion and the Mezzan culture (see the Overlords of Sargassos thread) left millions dead and several worlds uninhabitable. During the later part of the Horus Heresy, the now traitorus Alpha Legion attacked the Anargo and surrounding sectors in an attempt to draw the Ultramarines into battle. It is though that that the attacks were also cover to allow the alpha Legion to rearm and equip from their secret bases within the sargassos subsector that they had established back in the days of the great crusade. It is also theorized that some Alpha Legionaires had returned to the area after Alpharius' death at the hands of Roboute Guilliman on Eskrador. They continued to scheme and cause unrest. It may be one of the reasons why the Frost Bringers were stationed in the Anargo Sector (to root out the remaining Alpha Legion forces). You may also want to take a look at the Cursed Subsector Metaplot Overview. It is a little out of date at this time, but it has a basic overview of where the Sargassos Subsector is heading. One thing to rememebr as well, is that the world you have asked me to reserve is a waterworld. I'm not entirely sure how conducive to hives this might be. One thought that I had for this world was perhaps having the water not be the same as it is on earth. There could perhpas be minerals or chemicals in solution that accumulate into large crystalike structures. they would almost be like large crystal icebergs in the ocean or perhaps pillars that extend up from the bottom till they spread out on the surface. sme of these are free floating structures, where they have snapped off from the original crystal column. Perhaps the cities are grown out of similar crystal structures.
