Dorvastorian Guardian Brethren and Imperial Guard
The Guardian Brethren form the primary planetary defence force of Dorvastor, and regiments of Imperial Guard are recruited from them almost exclusively. The uniform of the regiment is said to be derived from the garb of Saint Garathune, the famed Hammer of Witches. When on service outside the cities of their homeworld, or in any hostile environment situation, they make use of Proteus XIV pattern rebreather gear, which is imported in bulk for the use of the Church and the military. Other military equipment is also imported, meaning that these troops maintain a technology level much greater than the local manufacturing base would otherwise allow. Dorvastorian regiments are typically infantry based, although they do maintain their own supporting armour and artillery. The Sentinel Light Insurgency Vehicle has found much favour, and has on occasion been fielded in company strength.
In battle Dorvastorian regiments have proven themselves dedicated and capable fighters, although they often show an inability to reign in their zeal and have been known to mount all-out assaults without reference to higher authorities, and the famed oratory of the regiments’ officers and priests often draws other forces into their actions. This was most famously demonstrated on Kendreda in the Grodian sub-sector in the late M39, where a simple garrison mission by the 37th Regiment (The Devoted of Saint Malachi) to protect Imperial colonists from competing xenos colonists turned first into a highly aggressive defence and then to a planet-wide campaign pulling in the entire planetary population. No official sanction was lodged, however, as the campaign had proved successful.

I've also got a picture, with which I am supremely chuffed, but what with being at Uni I'm unable to scan it until the end of May/beginning of June (!) (Unless I can con some poor unsuspecting fool into letting me use theirs...)

Minister, you can always con someone with a digital-camera to borrow you that. Scanner would be preferable, but not necessary. Other than that... kewl. I didn't know there was a Standard Pattern for Sentinels though. I've just heard of Mars, Armageddon, Cadia and Catachan pattern... How about Proteus pattern? Or Castellan pattern? Or Dorvastor? Warmaster "Grosos"?

Having just typed that random colection of sylables into Google I get a lot of Foregn writings. I therefore assume that it means something somewhere in Abroad. As a result of this, he is now named Warmaster Orketh.
Sentinel patterns, I don't like the way they are presented in the IG book. Castelan pattern is good.
I'm also going to work on combat doctrine. I'm thinking of the idea that all oposing forces musst be pressurised at all times, for to relent your assault is to permit the heretic and the heathen time to re-gather. Once troops are committed they cannot be withdrawn until their task is done, only re-enforced. Perhaps also something about clinging to the foe's front line to impede his ability to call down full fire support.

That sounds like an appropriate Doctrine. I foresee an excerpt from the tactical writings of some Dorvastorite general... Parden my blunt humour, but naming an Imperial warmaster Orketh is like naming him Eldarsen

"Once troops are committed, there should be no withdrawal from the fray save in the most overwhelming of situations. To do so is to give heart to the hated foe and shatter the morale of the troops. The re-enforcement with fresh troops is desirable as a substitute for such withdraw. However, there is equally sin in throwing the lives of the Emperors' subjects away without reason, a sin often forgotten by His generals."
"To the fore, at the bleeding edge, that is where troops should be found. For when one is at point blank range it is a trial of Imperial steel and Imperial will against that of the foe, and given such an equal fight the Emperor’s soldiers can be relied upon.”
“An army must conduct itself well at all times under the direction of its leader, yet must also prevent the foe from doing the same. To this end, it is preferable to have in place a clear battle directorate, the nuances of which are restricted to those directly involved in the interests of security, in place before the battle. Then, once joined in a battle with a foe of equal magnitude, pressure must be placed on all elements of the foe at all times. Often this will deplete your ability to maintain an effective reserve, but the foe will face the same struggle. Not all pressure need be maintained by massed armour and troops, though. Often small strikes will hamper the foes’ ability to react without unduly drawing in your own resources, allowing you to bring the Emperors’ Judgment to each of them when you are ready.”
- Lord General Lanyan, formerly Colonel of the Dorvastor 32nd “Consecrated Wrath”, Commander Anargo Sector Imperial Guard. 2830662.M39

Makes me wonder, are we going to have a quotes/excripts section anywhere on the site, or am I going to have to go overboard with "Grey Box" analogues?

Glad to see I'm not the only one browsing his own threads once in a while ;D
I imagine that you can have any related pages you want on the website. Remember that there will be a navigation bar at the bottom of the website, called "Related links" On this navigation bar, the Dorvastor subsector/system can have links to everything from organisation of Dorvastorite IG regiments, famous quotes and excerpts from tactical writings, to tourist advertisements of Dorvastor and articles on Dorvastorite cooking.
