Very illegal, so very risky to possess them, which would make them rare items. And rare items tend to be expensive, and there is always a buyer for something

With that in mind one might also wish to consider the example of 'dreamstones' from Farseer. They are, for the most part, just a variation of a Waystone and likely exceptionally easy for the eldar to produce... Yet a small pouch of them are enough to 'buy a small planet'...

The reference you make to the cost of a ship is made in reference to the single dreamstone that Auric hands over to Janus. It is later with Simon Belisarius that Auric hands over the small pouch of dreamstones and it is there (left hand page! ) that it is mentioned that in current market value it is worth a small planet... So nyuh!
