I would argue strenuousl against the inquisition knowing,
the concept would be that he, and his company, have been around for ever, or at least the early days of the sector.
By setting up from the begining and being just their, with a 'friednly' face it escaes notice, the way people dont think about it because ite been their so long.
He's decinatly a behind the scens character.
IT works as tzeench as it falls outside the cult setup favoured by the unalighned chapters. Its something very different. Yes he is/ was a chaos mmarine but he's very definatly he for his own power, working to bing down the imperium in a very differnt way for his own goals. That he may be a pawn of tzeench and some level is a given, but he believes he's going it by himself.
Any thoughts how this might actually work would be apreciated.

I didn't suggest that the Inquisition knowing about the Traitor Marine, Lord Fenric. I actually thought you did, but never mind then
Anyway, I really like the idea, but I do think we need to clarify his motives. Is he just hungry for power and enjoying a more peaceful life than other Traitor Marines, realizing that he'll come a lot farther working behind the scenes than on the battlefield? There's the question of how he's been alive this long, but I guess the chaos gods could keep him alive if he did them enough favours. You'd see the vans of his company driving in bad neighbourhoods, picking up drug-addicts, prostitutes and other people who won't be missed...
If you want him more independent, trying not to mess with chaos, I think it's going to be difficult. Rejuvenation drugs and bionics can only prolong your life so long, it seems. Even a Space Marine would be seriously, seriously weakened by ten millennia... he might have to rely on a machine like the Golden throne... Personally, I think it would be cool if he served the chaos gods in exchange for immortality, but did not worship them.
PS: Malika, Raider- Let's try to keep one-line posts to a minimum. Yes, I know a lot of other members are doing it, and even Kage (and myself ) from time to time, but still... if you've got an idea, bring the details

Keeping the gods pleased..I like that one....but not turning him into some sort of superhero in which he picks up drug addicr and other sinners...let him have a cult under his command who go out on raids...kidnapping people...some fo sacrifice, other's for experiments...and others are brainwashed into recruits
LoL! I don't know if super-heroes go around kidnapping drug-addicts and prostitues to sacrifice them in their basements, but I agree none-the-less
It's just that if he starts killing lots of citizens who have jobs and families, people will come looking for them, and if the Traitor Marine's company is found committing such heresies, the show is over...

No no no........... no cults, the onenthing i want to do is get away from that image of chaos, that of cults and uprisings.
The way i see it he doesn't care. anymore, this iss all about personal power and the coruption of the innocent because he can.
From the front the organisation is spotless, as scruplous as any other large trading concern, but not illegal, of course behind that in those areas 'beyond' the law it is a very different story.
I like the image of stealing people from the streets who wont be missed, their is nothing altruistic about that, especially considering all the *interesting* things which can be done with people who wont be missed.
I see this operating on two levels, on the one hand you have a very large company capable of dealing on a sector wide scaale, possibly larger, it has to be this big to work IMO as anything smaller isn't 'worth' anything. Of course it started out small but now is a major player. Through this it has access to the great and good of the anargo sector, wheelin' and dealin' as it were, it grants access to not only the merchants but accross the whole spectra of guvernment. Its that access which makes this a very different sort of chaos incursion.
Their are no cults to weed out, no overt rraitors to be cought. The company has access to so many high placed individuals it can corrupt and subvert without being noticed, across a much wider spactrum of the imperium then a cult would be able to access.
The other level is the shady side, where it is feered by those who don't enjoy the protection of the law, at the level where it doesn;t matter what an arbiter could or could not proove, as they would dissapear as well.
As for longevity well, i see him as being old, not in his prime by any means, but their are probably many ways to extend your life in the imperium if the cost isn't important.
Perhaps that could be one of the 'devices' he uses for curruption. His company produces and sells a rejuvination treatment which works very well to those rich enough to afford it, of course what's in it is where thins get *sticky*

A small point but I think its' a touch Cliched that the two big Crime Syndicates we've created are control by Chaos or Eldar. What about the more conventional criminal masterminds. The obvious answer is a third big criminal group, but ASP isn't about taking the Obvious route out.
A possiblity is that the Eldar and Chaos dominated groups are the only ones that have influence over most of the sector, but there are dozens of smaller ones that have a more concentrated dominance of a single planet.

With the CSM lead thing i don;t see it as being involved directly in the lower end of crime, for example prostitution, theft, extortin, are not going to be within the remit of the 'organisation'. Their crimes are much 'bigger', yet harder to pin point, polluting worlds, llegal research, genetic tampering etc.
This is not an organisation of thugs, this is about power and the rewards through its application.
exactly..but small crimes could also be their doing..I mean some pety criminals could be under control of some local boss, who is under control of a bigger boss who is under control of the main organisational leaders or something?
What does the Chaos Space Marine want with all this power? What are his motives? Why has he left the service of the Dark Gods, who could promise Immortality and revenge?
I disagree that there are methods to prolong a life THAT long, even in 40k. I mean, he's over 10,000 years old. The oldest I've ever heard of is Dante, 1100, but he's unique.
Well maybe not have them to be the biggest...I mean have the chaos one (controlled by the Alpha Legion) a different purpose..maybe they just go out and kidnap people...to be used as new cultists (brainwashing) or for sacrifice to the Chaos Gods.

Several reasons come to mind: -
1) Nudged by Tzeench, whilst the is under the impression that this is his idea it could be one of Tzeench's plans, with him as a pawn. After all what the HH and 13 Black Crusades have failed to achieve could be won through commerce, and the slow corruption of the imperium.
2) Disenchanted / Guilt, the failure of the rhubric could have caused him to flee Magnus's wrath, or he simply couldn't stand what occured.
And lots others i can't think of at the moment
I see him as not actually turning his back on chaos but more backing away, after all their are many levels of religious fervour. I see him as someone who nods Tzeench's direction once in a while but is not a religious fanatic.

As a space marine and sorcerer he could extend his life, At the end of the day with the 40k universe anything is possible if you want it enough.
It could be a gift, a matter of science, sorcery or whatever.
I like to picture him as past his prime anyway, the equiivalent of a 50-60 year old, still potent as a psycher but physically past it. of course as a space marine still stronger then normal men but still old.
I don't really see it as an overtly criminal organisation, there of course being many defininition of the word criminal. As said before he is trying to currupt from within, to win power through commerce and exploit the opertunities that position can bring, the secrets to be learned.
So whilst bribary, intimidation, murder etc are all going to be common place non of this is 'criminal', i.e. it wont attracdt the attention of the arbites, he is above that world protected by his position.
The only thing to fear would be the inquisition, but i'm sure some members of that illustroius organisation aren;t as pure as they would like and thus exploitable.

There was some idea in the Chaos Artwork Thread about Alpha Legionaires in suspended animation..what about this marine having some sort of casket, kinda like what the egyptian faraos had? I mean...thousand sons, tzeetch, egypt theme...could fit right?
