Automated world generation can be achieved through the use of the magnificent Heaven & Earth program. This vastly simplifies world building and maybe of interest to those people who don't like - or don't have time - for the paper and pen approach. Please remember, however, that automated world generation is less reactive to the concept that you might be working with. The environment of the world is going to have an impact upon your worlds history since, after all, it's pretty hard to for the population to be 'thin and willowy' (as in low-gravity) when you've randomly generated a world with twice the gravity of Earth. Personally, I'm going to probably end up using it! [Thanks to Inquisitor Lord Vatsyayana, aka Vatsy, for making us all aware of this program]

Please also note that the use of H&E doesn't automatically enter a world into the ASP. It just takes away much of the work... it is still the concept that is the most important part. As such you may find it useful to use H&E to generate your world, then throw out the concept to see what people think of it. Posting huge amounts of copy/pasted information from H&E actually sometimes prevents discussion, believe it or not!
