it's a very loose style isn't it,there dosen't seem to be much detail? whenever i do lights on buildings i can never get it right ,unlike you and R.T..*kudos* (nothing wrong with that it's just the opposite to what i do) ... i think the colours are great which create a good atmosphere about it all,i think the way you did the cobbles is a nice touch too i think you've got a perspective problem 'tho Daz' no1 when you decide where the horizon is pick where the vanishing point is then draw some guidelines no2 put the building in no3 if your putting details in like doors and windows draw more lines in between, also if you want to do alleyways just follow the horizion no3/4 determine where the horizion is? i hope this isn't sounding too patronising,i'm just trying to help ..if you look at your roofs on in the foreground they're too flat(the angle seems wrong).........unless they're going downhill towards the viewer?... but remember, this is only my personal view and could be tottally wrong? [a href=" "] [/a] this is where i shoot myself in the foot....is your painting it finished?

Yes it all dry and everything Your telling me, I like everything but that, I know it looks really dodgy, but painting with oils is rather hit and miss sometimes, for me just letting go and throwing myself at it tends to yeild the better results for my paintings, however that approach often lets me down on the tecnical side ie perspective. I will probably have another go, and i'm grateful for the advice, when I was younger I used to be able to do perspective, so those sketches youve done will come in handy And then theres the fact the brushes I use are really crap

i still think you should try acrilics they're so versatile, depending on how much water you use you can use them like oils or watercolour and they dry quicker and you can paint over them to ;D.. .btw, glad you didn't take my comments the wrong way

I have used acryllics before to great effect, I feel but: 1) they dry to fast. 2) its hard to mix them on the canvass/paper 3) i don't have any, so would be forced to go out and spend money 4) they don't have the weight of oils, that sound stupid, but there you go. You will find I am a far harsher critic of my own work than anyone else could be

[/url][a href=" "] [/a] as inspired*..shh.ermm,copied* by Dazo's oil painting, this was the last one i started doing when i realised that the cathedral type building was in the middle ground not the horizen , so the fog went a bit higher ;D..unfortunatlry it then looked like an exstension of the middle ground building ,so i had to define the top of the building i just hid in the fog ...after all that i did the lights a neon blue but shaded the building a red/brown...which didn't look right ...this shading had taken me about two hours to do, (with what trned out to be the wrong colour grrr)..redone this morning with red hues ;D....the reason i'm telling you all this is so you can understand why i'm well and truely cured of doing cathedral types for the near future

No no the lights are fine the way they are, in my painting I wanted a harder contrast between light and dark, so I brightened up the light. Yours looks great as is, so leave it I'm coming on ok with the lurkers I suppose, I have done a re-do in light of the pics rascal sent me, though to be honest i'm not to happy with them*shrugs shoulders*
