I'm getting practically spammy with this thread, but I've recently posting a huge gamut of information into the RPG forum. The post is basically GURPS' "Space Combat System" that is both easy to apply and simple, not going into the huge detail that is available to the RPG in question... It also has a number of rather obvious parallels to my hazy recollections of Space Fleet as it was originally named.
So, where is the thread? That's easy to answer: here.
What would I like? As always it would be great if wargame and RPG could work together. A reading of the above rules will show that it is more detailed (in some areas) than BFG but is also a tad less 'fun' because of that detail. It does, however, offer a rather obvious means by which BFG statistics can be translated over to something which could then be used for the 'detail' that the RPG provides in producing statistics for the various ships, e.g. the "Flagship" thred.
So, BFG players: take a look! I've posted the entire system rather than just the general 'conversions' so that you can see how the entire thing works together. I'm betting that with your experience you will be able to provide 'converted stats' for the BFG ships into the above system and, from there, give us all something to work on.
You never know... it might also be of use for the generic campaign system with some of the concepts that it raises (e.g. 'damage' to ships and repairing them, etc.).
