Ok, I have a plan, a bold plan, a potentially socially damaging plan.... Why don't we try to make a Codex based on our individual creations as and when they are accepted/declined by the 'Powers that Be'? Fluff, lists, playtesting - all are viable things really, but I just want to see what people will think of this idea... I personally have a Genestealer Cult revamp list (which I feel captures the flavour of Xeno-taint - the Open Test will be running in october, so watch this space!) and the Vaeloni under-construction, but I have seen many minor races on here that all deserve fair representation, be it in fluff form, Inquisitor or any other game system (BFG and Inquis are prolly the most likely though ). I will now return to my Flame-retardant bunker and await any responses Sokahr

Well, first we need to develop our creations so that we can eventually imagine what kind of armies they would have, if they would have armies at all But it's a good idea Another good idea would be to see how existing codexes by GW can be used to represent our own aliens. For example, perhaps the Tyranid Codex is versatile enough to be used for the Atlanteans...

TY!
Well, I can try my hand at graphics design (Studying media, and love to design print media stuff) for a layout or something, but as you say, a lot of refining for the individual races is needed, so that they will be able to fit snugly into one huge compilation of gribbliness, furryness and all inbetween!
i will be continuing to write fluff for the aeloni, but i am using the Inquisitor system as an easy way of checking out weapon types and getting a more descriptive coverage of their machanical elements before gonig too far into 40K stat -lines.
Best of luck to all!

I would not mind helping with this; Its the sort of thing i love doing. I can create a bit of art but I am not really fantastic at it but I will atleast attempt to come up with concepts for art (Maps, Symboygy, Alien writing and creature diagrames) so that more talanted people then me. Play testing might be more my thing however, and perhaps I could report back on 'balancing issues' that may need to be addressed so that they don't become a super army.
Would you suggest a single codex each, or one for all races in the sector? If we have one for the sector we can then add details of the extinct races as well (just so they get a mention).

Interesting...I don't think 'Nids would be the best choice for them though, too weak indvidually and the whole "hive-mind" idea isn't really what I want. Eldar, on the other hand, could be hammered into a (slightly) reasonable fascimile (did I spell that right?). This, assuming, that my own Atlantean codex can't be used - which it likely can't since it's homegrown and nowhere close to balanced yet - or even finished completely.

Well that would sort of be the point of a Codex Anargo so to speak - to get all of our alpha lists out there to get tested, balanced and moaned, griped/celebrated! All in all, it is all about trying to get our vision shared in a way that other can enjoy... the one thing they cannot pull apart is a sensible peice of fluff, and at the end of the day, if the rules fit said fluff, and are balanced, then they really need to belong to a compendium such as the one we are discussing here I will be putting a BETA version of my Genestealer Cult list out to those who want it at some point (and when I can convert it to read only PDF). But until then... Adios

Personally, I love the idea. It's just the "Tyranids = Atlanteans" that I was commenting on - and yes, I know it was jsut CELS's suggestion.

Oh for crying out loud, it was just a bloody example Let's keep our eye on the ball here, people. Again I'm going to suggest that people think about which existing codexes can be best used to represent their race. After all, I suppose you're making the Codex in the hope that other people will be interested in using it. And those people will probably run into other players who don't want to play against a homebrew Codex. I also suggest that the different Codexes are actually made by modifying existing Codexes. Writing a Codex from scratch is a great amount of work, and trying to make a balanced army out of it, doubly so. PS: "Symboygy".... Hah! ;D

Right, i feel that i have the final draft of a GOOd (I hope) Genestealer cult list, that actually seems cult like rather than a LatD re-hash or that 2nd edition list (which I liked, but it does not work too well with all of the new fluff). I just need to know about the legality of posting it, what rights etc i have to observe, and the general methods of making an integrated file that can cover the various species in the Anargo sector as well. I just hope that we can continue to put together a Codex of all of our own races, as well as the wide range of races that do not have too much coverage as of yet (Loaxtl, Stealers (done i hope ), Hrud and the likes).

You can post as many unofficial rules as you want. The only thing you can't post, is official stuff by GW.
Looking forward to reading this unofficial genestealer codex, though I would also be glad if you found an existing codex by GW that could be used to represent Genestealers. Perhaps using the LatD armylist, for example? Or just Tyranids, with gaunts representing cultists, and hive tyrants representing patriarchs or whatever.

Well, I have used a kind of doctrines system (only three options tho) so that it can work more with the Guard dex, Tyranids or LatD if you wish it to. This represents highly militarised, Consumption Phase or rabble lists respectively, as opposed to the generic religious/militaristic cult feel that the main list has. LatD has been used as a proxy for alot of the ideas, but mainly, it is based on a mix of old genestealer info and general Stealer fluff (IE i have a new breed called progenitors, the brood of the patriarch, which i am thinking should go down a treat... but we shall have to see). At the moment it is literally just a list, as opposed to any kind of codex, but i am working on collating my own fluff and giving links in it to GW information when i get any emails giving permission back. So watch this space, and i hope you enjoy it BTW i did away with the Cult limos, but they now have a vehicle that looks scarily like those Toyota trucks that certai nextremist groups use..... gotta love a Toyota with a .50 cal on the back

I'm really looking forward to this, don;t keep us in suspense too long. I like Genestealer cults, and the GW official version was really kind of weak.

I attempted to produce a genestealer cult a couple of years ago when I found my Magus and Converted brood brothers at the bottom of my miniture boxs. I never finshed that project which is why I am awating Insidious Threat list.
Hope its not too long now?

Not long to go, i just have to make sure that none of the Imperial units that I included in the write up have their stats on any public version that i put out. So all I need now is a way of getting it online - any sugestions on how to get it onto this place? Host it on Geocities and make it a link? Or post it in a seperate thread? Any hosting suggestions are much appreciated, especially if i can get it into a PDF format at all, to prevent any description of mesin around with it Ty all, and i promise that i am literally days away nowe, tis just hosting and making it all nice and legal to post
