Chaos cults, genestealer cults, even eldar cults have been covered by fluff and fiction. What about ork cults? ;D
Working on my ork article, I started thinking about how Blood Axes are known to trade with humans. Of course, no Imperial authority would have any of that, and though I was reminded of the backwater world in the first Siaphas Cain (sp?) novel that secretly traded with Tau, I wanted to go in another direction.
We've briefly discussed lost human worlds in the Anargo sector. How about an ancient human world close to the ork empire that has actually been a part of the ork empire since before the Imperium?
Might be interesting to see what kind of relationship they had with the orks, whom they've had more or less peaceful relations with for so long. What do you think?

Considering the way Ork Hunters "go native!" </bad british accent>, I'd not be surprised if Orky cults existed. It could be instigated by something like the von Strab incident on Armageddon (a political alliance of convenience), for which you can see in detail in Annihilation Squad, or some sort of feral respect and imitation thing (anyone remember the Power of the Aaaagh!? ...and of course, the humans from GorkaMorka...). And, Ciaphas Cain, iirc. However, the "reasons" for that one were slightly different, as the humans were imitating something they thought to be superior and more enlightened, culturally. Any Ork "cult" would probably be something violent, survivalist, or something developed by obscure political maneuvering. But, before the Imperium you say? That could end up with some truly bizarre relationships. *EDIT Did you have something specific in mind, or were you just fishing for thoughts? Would the humans on this particular planet be advanced to the point that they could forcefully integrate themselves into orky society above slave level, or would they just be a slave farm "content with their lot"? Or something else? Merely some personality cult where an Ork warlord operates as the leader of the humans on that world? Something else? *EDITx2 Or were you just looking for validation? ;D

Heheh, I'm actually fishing for ideas and possibly looking for validation (though I'm quite sure that it's valid)
Since it's a whole world, I imagine that there's room for many different types of relationships, but I'm still waiting to hear what people consider likely. Worship? Cooperation?
I haven't decided on the tech level of this world yet, but I'm pretty sure that it would be quite high. Higher than ork tech in most regards. Their technology level might have deteriorated because of the orks though...

Or it might have gone up, if it's been a part of the orky empire since before the Imperium and its pre-Imperial civilization was on the decline. With relics of the DAoT all around the place, I'm sure Meks would love the place and probably consider it sent by Gork (or Mork) to further their arcane xeno techno-sorceries. Since the humans have known nothing other than the lash of the Ork (if lashed at all!), it's quite possible that they would know very little of humans on other worlds who aren't under orkoid domination. I'd imagine a few of those "infiltrator" sisters would be about preaching the Imperial cult, though, attempting to raise trouble just on general principle, so you'd probably find some "terrorist cells" who are against "orkoid oppression." So while it might have originally started out as worship of a "savage, enlightened, and kunning superior being," it's probably little more than cooperation by this point thanks to the sabotage efforts of the Adeptus Sororitas (if they're doing so, of course). Just a thought for that last few sentences....

Hmmm, yeah, there might be a few DAoT relics about, which might have a small impact on the overall tech level. In that case, it would increase the tech level of the entire ork empire, if anything. I think a low tech human world is more interesting though. There used to be DAoT relics around, but ork warlords have long ago scavenged these and put them on their own homeworlds or their flagship / hulk.
The idea of human rebels is interesting, but I'm not sure if these should actually be Imperial. I mean, how long would the Imperium sit still while a whole world of the Emperor's sons and daughters are forced to serve the vile xenos scum? Unless of course, they've only just recently found out about the human world, and are now laying the foundation for a future crusade into the ork empire......
The Sisters could be preaching about the Emperor's soldiers coming to liberate them in the future. "And they shall be clad in enclosed armour, painted pearl white and regal blue," etc. Then, when the Imperium actually shows up, the people should rebel against the orks in no time at all. The Sisters would probably persuade a lot of the citizens to give their lives for martyrdom, doing suicide attacks and the like.

Maybe this is a human world which never has been liberated by the Imperium. So the humans live there might be very savage, and worship the Orks. All very similar to the Diggas in GorkaMorka. Maybe they are in very high numbers, so what they lack in strenght and toughness, they compensate with high numbers. Maybe they have a similar fate as the WFB Goblin? "Inferior" to the Orks, but more cunning. But erm CELS....shouldnt this thread be somewhere else? like on the Ork section for example?

Maybe this is a human world which never has been liberated by the Imperium. That would be cool. Of course, it's what I suggested in the first post of this thread Is that the most interesting way out though? First of all, it's been done before. Second of all, I think it might be more interesting if they had a society and culture of their own. And the 40k Gretchin? Inferior, but more cunning. And high numbers. It could be. But it could also be here ;D Or in the Imperium thread, actually. Ah what the hell, I'll move it.

But do Gretchin also have the greedy trader thingie that WFB goblins have? I mean that they would have slave-caravans for example? Maybe you could see these humans as Ferengi from Star Trek (yes yes I had a Star Trek phase a long time ago...and Im not proud of it)
Is this human cult going to be part of the "Ork Empire" thingie we have in the sector? Maybe they would worship Warlord Morzkraga Barkharg as a god, creating temples, statues in his name. Perhaps the strongest and most usefull of these humans have the honour of going into war alongside the Orks? They might hate the Imperium for worshipping "the Emperor" instead of "Da Warlord". This could be cool. They would after having encountered the Imperium hate them and want them all to worship "Da Warlord"

Actually, that's interesting, but I definitely want to see an advanced human culture paying tithes to the ork empire. Perhaps only parts of the human world are savage and ork-worshipping? Or perhaps there are two or more human worlds under control by the orks, with one being savage and worshipping the orks, and another being very advanced, but without any knowledge of the rest of the Imperium. Oh, and I'm proud to say that I don't know what the Ferengi are

Well that could be cool! But would both worlds work freely for the Orks? That advanced world for example...wouldnt the betray the Orks when they have the chance to?
But these Ork-worshippers could be a cool idea. perhaps Morzkraga would send them on suicide missions, dealings with pirates, mercenaries and smugglers for them to get there. Maybe similar to Jihad warriors who blow themselves up in busses. Terrorism could be a tactic used by Morzkraga, it sure fits the Blood Axe profile I think. While these humans commit these actions out of worship for their Warlord, Morzkrage uses them to demoralise the Imperium and make small attacks on them.
He would of course also send these human suicide groups to militiayr installations and to logistical targets, blowing up fuel depots for example.

Heh you could have the Oomies being inspired by Rebel Grots.
But thinking of something where you have a band of rebel humans who are in league with the Blood Axes would be pretty interesting.
You can have all sorts of interesting things happen on such a planet.
I think this is a great idea as you can have the strange the stupid and the hazardous all put in one place.

I'm thinking that the advanced world not like the orks and struggle to preserve their own culture. Just because they don't like the orks though, doesn't mean that they'd want to rebel. After all, they've probaby not had any contact with the Imperium, since they were conquered by Blood Axes before the Great Crusade and never found by the Emperor's forces since they were hidden within an ork empire. For all they know, they're the only humans in the galaxy. To rebel would mean certain destruction. A small fleet of ork ships might constantly orbit the planet as a silent threat. Whenever the world has tried to build ships intended to escape the system and search for other humans, the orks might have hunted them down and punished the human world severly, executing thousands and thousands.
I don't know if the primitive ork-worshippers would be usable as spies and saboteurs. They might not even speak Low Gothic, having totally converted to 'orkdom', and even cut their teeth sharp. Why bother hanging on to Imperial culture if they find ork culture superior?

They do find Ork culture superior, they want the enemies to die, and to please their "God"...who they call "Da Warlord" they would get eternal happiness or soemthing else they love for all eternity if they would die for their Warlord. Hence the suicide bombers.
But about those other humans...they are advanced, but under Ork control (the ships in orbit) but what is their use to the Orks? They pay money or weapons to the Orks? Slaves perhaps?

Guys and (possibly, not seems not the case) gals! Do you want to see angry Kage – prompt Ork-worshipping Eldar Seriously though, I cannot understand why high-tech civilisation will worship ones, who are known for brutality? Even if they are isolated. Look at ancient Greeks – they never even thought about admiring barbarians, I don’t say worship. They may admire orkish courage and be in like with those guys with the power of Aaargh! but becoming oomie-grots? Maybe make them not high-tech but techno-barbarians, akin to Caliban guys? Corrected the spelling...

We never said the technologically advanced group worshipped the Orks...the savages do however.
The advanced humans are kept under control by intimidation and blackmail.
