Right, partially for my own reasons but also for the project, I would like to gather all the 'ranks' for the various organisations of the adeptus terra (Administratum, Ecclesiarchy, etc.) and related organisations of the Imperium (Inquisition, etc.).
Please post in the following format:
<Organisations>
Integers (x) can be used to represent official ranks, while unofficial rans can be identified by (x.n). As a quick example:
Imperial Guard
Etc. Here the decimal has been used to express relative rank and, further, non-canonical ranks. Well, sort of non-canonical rannks since they are often mentioned in the 'fluff'.
Construction of Tables
For those of you who are not familiar with how to construct a table on the forum, then please see below. Please note that the normal forum code square brackets [] are replaced with () so that you ca see what is going on...
(table)
(tr)
(td)(b)x(/b)(/td)
(td)(b)Rank(/b)(/td)
(/tr)
(tr)
(td)x.n(/td)
(td)Unofficial Rank(/td)
(/tr)
(/table)
It's actually very quick to do and makes everything easy to see rather than using spaces, dashes, colons, or whatever I've seen peole use in the past.
Suffice to say that if you do include non-canonical ranks please differentiate them in some way. I know, I know... the 'fluff' does need them since I have seen an argument used that the Imperium actually uses four broad ranks, i.e. "Private-Sergeant-Lieutenant-Colonel" or "Marine-Sergeant-Lieutenant-Captain", despite the fact that this is merely a means of differentiating the original 'hero' system (i.e. Trooper-Champion-Minor Hero-Major Here).
So, help me out will'ya? I've posted a thread on the Black Library forums in the hope that they might have something interesting to say...
Oh yes, and if you have any meanderings about the really ephemeral structures that exist on the subsector and sector, etc., levels I would also appreciate that. Just try not to wax lyrical on them!
