That's because it's how it is meant to be... I did not want a 'fully integrated' world where we have all the Imperial organisations acting in an official capacity for the world as a whole. Rather, integration has increased by the individual socio-history and general 'independence' of the world is preserved.
Fair enough, so far.
The "local" adeptus arbites" was, at one point, the Imperial version. That is to say in the time of Albrecht Gaius, then a commander in the same, it was the official adeptus arbites presence maintained by the Imperium on Anargo. Following the Gaian Coup and the raising of Gaius to Lord Anargo, the security force aspect of the PDF (i.e. the 'police') was modelled around a corp of his original adeptus arbites unit(s) and expanded. In so doing it became PDF, not adeptus arbites (the latter of which is non-local).
This part I like. I have no problem with the PDF being modelled around the 'original' Adeptus Arbites. If they have the same organisation and structure, the same equipment, training, armour, all that's cool. It's when they actually call themselves 'Adeptus Arbites' that I have a problem with it. They don't even have a tiny designation to show their nature, like the 'Adeptus Arbites Regionis' or whatever.
<< Good day, I come from the... "Adeptus Arbites" >>
Twoddle. Rubbish.
Putting a smiley behind such remarks don't make them any more constructive
This is what I was talking about above with people believing that the Imperial organisations maintain a 'trademark' upon their structure...
Not upon structure, but upon their identity. If you want a local organisation identical to the Inquisition in purpose and method, that's fine. But if the members of this organisation call themselves 'Inquisitors' and carry Inquisitorial badges, the real Inquisition would be pissed off. I'm sure of that.
The form of the local adeptus arbites ('police'/administration) is an artefact of their history, the preferences of the original Lord Anargo, and a process of history... They are not the true adeptus arbites, but rather a private variation thereof.
As I've written above, this is fine!
Saying that the true adeptus arbites would not allow them to have the same structure is blatantly ridiculous, just as it would be to say that a PDF could not be worked around the regiment becuase that it is the way that the Guard is organised...
That's very true, but besides the point. Structure is one thing, identity another. [Huge flashback, since I've used the exact same line when discussing with you before, Kage, months ago ;D] Give them precincts, judges, rhinos and even a similar appearance to the Adeptus Arbites if you want, but I do not like the idea of them actually being called the 'Adeptus Arbites' if they are not actually a part of that organisation.
Always humourous. Just because I don't play it doesn't mean that I don't acknowledge it can be fun... But I also don't write for it...
Glad to hear it
That was the purpose of the PPL thread which, what?, two people replied to?
Yes. Minister and... myself
Granted, the thread never got really far, which I admit is a shame.
I have unfortunately found that it is often useful to say something ridiculous to bring out the people to comment on the topic that you're trying to discuss. The date had already been changed in the original document by this time...
I hope this is what you're doing with the Arbites then
(Just kidding!!)
One date is technically not a timeline. It's a point. However, turn your eyes to the PPL thread to produce a framework timeline that we can use to structure this type of information.
On my way now.
