I SOOOOO want to develop this world. It will be my next project.
Neshenda 50,23,41 - M-V - D79A788-8 Ag Wa 604 Im 251 Neshenda’s Imperial Governor is the Overlord of the planet’s single sizable land-mass. Other nations exist on the nomadic city-ships, which ply the vast oceans with more concern for survival politics, existing in a constant state of war with each other for whatever they can seize. Their only contact with the Imperium or the government being every tenth Imperial year, when for one hundred standard days a peace is imposed by the Overlord’s aerial armada. During this time the locals will receive off world goods and various governmental favours in exchange for whatever they have for trade. This is also the traditional time for the seafarers to contribute men to the Neshenda PDF, the young men and women competing for the chance to enjoy the more cultured life in exchange for military service.

Not a problem (unless someoe else thinks up a reason). Take it with my blessing. Remember that, for most of the worlds, what I put down is simply the first thing that popped into my head. If you want to change anything from that (obviously leave the base profile on the same sort of area that it is) then go ahead. Keep me posted on the results!

Alright Campers! I've got some concepts on the nature of Neshenda:
1) Most of the population lives on small islands and Archipelligos. Different islands live are ruled by seperate despots or elected captains. Because resources are so rare on these islands, raiding between different clans is common place. 2) Imperial traders, who sail from only sizable landmass, bring clothing, food, medicine, and other products the islanders cannot produce themselves. In exchange, the islanders send their best warriors to fight in the Imperial Guard. 3) Building on their experiences raiding neighboring islands, the Neshenda Guard are renound for their Amphibious landings and hit and run assaults. Light gunships and landing craft deliever the marines to the shore where they can establish a beachhead for following Guard Regiments.
Any furthur ideas?

Your nit-picking nerd is back . Because resources are so rare on these islands, raiding between different clans is common place. Where they get the resources then?! If from in-land IG as goes next, then why “among themselves”? Look up practices of wandering ethnoses as a reference if you make water nomads.

I was actualy thinking Waterworld here.
Arbitraty statement without planning coming up: The Neshendan regiments are much favoured by the Sector Command for breach and amphibious assault units, although regiments tithed from here will almost always require large numbers of Commissars due to the troops' antagonistic nature.

It reminds me just a tad of this world.... 5,29,19 - M-V - B969833-6 S 803 Im 1E(24) Very large world (9), standard atmosphere (6), wet world (90%), Hundreds of millions citizens (8), Self-perpetuating oligarchy (3), Low law, machine guns prohibited (3), Tech level 6, Protocellular life (1), extremely rich resource base (E), exporting cybernetics (24)
Factory world. Land is very expensive on this world, so poor people live at sea, some in small boats, others in floating cities or drifting ghost ships. Law level is moderate in cities, and almost unchecked at sea. Still, the poor seafaring people are never allowed to become powerful enough to actually present a threat to the Imperial cities or trade convoys, which are both heavily armed.
Most of the landmass on this world consists of large island groups with small individual islands, and as a result the planet’s Imperial Guard regiments are experts at amphibious warfare and often trained as drop troops. Other than providing the Imperium with skilled Imperial Guard regiments, this world is a highly productive factory world, building countless Imperial Guard tanks and vehicles, as well as Navy aircraft and a multitude of non-military equipment.Guess which subsector this is from... Oh, and NO, I did not write this after Neshenda was created.

No, no, that would be silly, since no one is working on the planet in the Proteus subsector. It was just a concept I came up with.
I didn't have a point really, except that I wanted to accuse Minister of stealing my ideas ;D

I suppose I could work on both water worlds. Maybe the troopers from the factory world are more like modern US marines, using Chimeras and are able to fight on land just as well as on water. The troops from the Dovastor sub-sector could be more archaic or even have an entirely different mission profile.

I appreciate the offer, Dinoman, but it seems I shall have to think of a new concept for my world. Two worlds with Water World imagery in the same sector is a tad boring.
When/if you finish Altarra, Neshenda and that world in the capitol subsector, we'll see what we can do ;D

I'm thinking the world in the Dovastor subsector is more along the lines of the South Pacific, with headhunters and primitive islanders striking at each other on canoes and such. The few guard regiments raised from this world would be primitive and use unsophisticated weapons (warrior weapons doctrine anyone?) I doubt anyone would want such troops, so the Imperial Governor pays his tithe in the form of sea oysters or something like that. To contrast the anarchic enviroment outside the capital, the governors defense force would be well disciplined and charged with keeping order. They would use gunships and landing craft as their primary equipment.
The world in the Proteus subsector, despite being a waterworld as well, would be very different. I'm thinking undersea cities, huge factories producing chimeras and other instruments of war and commerce. The forces from this world would be amphibious, excelling at taking a beach and moving inland. Doctrines like Mechanised and Grenadiers come to mins, and perhaps some combat oriented ones as well.
Naturally, the two worlds would have a rivalry over whose marines are the best, setting the stage for some interesting conflicts behind the scenes. Imagine commanders from these two worlds arguing who gets to take the next beach in a warzone. Of course the Altarran commander would simply say "why take the beach when you could fly over it?"

And then the wise commander from the water world in Proteus would reply; "Because you need air superiority to do that, and if we don't take out those AA cannons, it'll be a very short flight indeed." But when you put it like that, two water worlds sound more interesting, yeah. I'm kinda tired of Proteus at the moment, so I think I'll get started on that water world. That is, unless you want to do it yourself, at a later time... Edit- *rips Neshenda banner from Dinoman's hands* Well, Dinoman will be doing the water world in the Proteus subsector instead. But, since I figure other Subsector Leaders are tired of me hogging all the planet creators (well, at least Dinoman and heretic), I've decided to do Neshenda myself. Works out pretty well, actually, since I'm ready to work with something that's not closely related to the AM. That is, if this is ok with you, Minister..? One thing about Neshenda that Dinoman didn't mention, is how the world would be affected by the strong presence of the Ecclesiarchy in the subsector. I had an idea for an Imperial Guard regiment the other day, that were VERY religious and close to the Redemptionist cult in behavior. This makes them very zealous and courageous fighters, but they would also have the unfortunate tendency to start fights with other Imperial regiments which they don't approve of. The Meksumians would be obvious targets for example, with their use of drugs and sometimes cowardly ways ;D More ideas on the way...

Just because a world is inhabited doesn't mean that it is going to have Imperial Guard regiments (note the plural) raised from them. I'm not saying that this is not appropriate, just that it is not an automatic assumption. And CELS... no stealing worlds unless ZDinoman agrees... Kage
