The last one I can do on the off:
A Cardinal World is a world run by the Ecclesiarchy, upon which the Cardinal (or, on occasion, a council of Cardinals or a council answerable to a Cardinal) is the planetary governor. A Shrine World is one where the Ecclesiarchy has significant influence (and may have the governance) and which is home to a large or significant shrine to a regognised Imperial saint (or the Emperor himself) with direct connection to the saint (or the emperor) which relies upon pilgramage as a significant part of its economy. Most Cardinal Worlds are also Shrine Worlds, but not all Shrine WOrlds are Cardinal Worlds.

Ahhh thank you very much, thats cleared that up nicely. I would think that shrine/cardinal worlds are not so much stand alone planets in the way that hives worlds and forge worlds are, is it not often the case that a sub sector will often have a few shrine/cardinal worlds that form a pilgramage route. I ask as I'm interested in maybe doing a world in dorvastor, but I don't think I could do it in isolation at least not in the way one might approach a mining world or agri world. I would need to know the main world as I see eccliesiarchy run sub sectors more like micro empires, all connected by certain events or people and all linking back to the main world

The Ecclesiarchy doesn't run the sub-sector so much as it dominates it, in the same way as BP dominates Grangemouth but doesn't actually rule it independant of the national government.
Any world in the Dorvastor sub will be long-founded and with a high level of dortrinal purity. Other than that, the people still need to eat and the factories still need to run.

How long founded, before the Emperor arrived or just after, and had you set limits in your own mind of how many cardinal/shrine worlds their might be in this sub sector. Had you already considered having a multi planetary pilgramige route, each purporting to have a sacred relic of some kind. Or is that the sole domain of Dorvaster itself

The choice is up to the author but, as Dorvastor pre-dates the Imperium, most worlds suitable for habitation will have been around for some time.
As for pilgrim routes? There is no real net around the area, but other worlds may also house significant places of pilgrimages (although few if any would be actual shrine worlds).
